Well isn't the point of a band to play set songs? You can't exactly play by your feelings if a song requires a specific drum part.

Usually those parts are only played with a certain drum. I play the drum set... plus if there is a part that needs to be played a certain way, the teacher would usually show me how to play it.

None of those ring a bell.

I remember one marching band song called Sorraco, only because my friends and I would absolutely drown out the surrounding instrument sections because we were having way too much fun playing everything an octave higher.

One the best Jazz songs we played was called High Maintenance by Gordan Goodwin's Big Phat Band. It's a very fast paced, and challenging song, but a lot of fun to play. You should all check out Gordan Goodwin's Big Phat Band, they have some great sounding Jazz music.

Must have over looked Another One Bites the Dust, although I wouldn't call that a particularly interesting marching band song.

I'm with OME6A, your conductor needs to liven it up a lot.
