Car Mods Thread
The title says it all. Post about mods you've made yourself, looking into making, or just general questions you might have.
To start it off, if you have a newer model Ford Ranger and you're trying to swap out the shifter knob, you better be prepared. There are two ways of removing the factory knob but both are hard as hell.
The easier, and less destructive, way is to take a hair dryer or something that applies heat and blow it directly on the knob and start pulling straight out as hard as your body can possibly pull a knob out.
The second way, which is the way I did it because I needed to shorten the shifter bar anyway, is to tear the rubber mold off of the knob and break apart the plastic ball underneath. After all of that, I just took a hacksaw and cut right through where I needed to.

Top of the picture is the remains of the factory knob and the middle through bottom was all of the tools needed to do what I did.

And that's the result. Now I just need a grinder to shave it down a touch more and shave a bit of the sides off so my other knob will fit right on there.

My Lancia Delta HF. It's got a stage 3 turbo, a nice AGP intercooler, a Tien shocks kit, and some nice Potenzas.
Here's the real Beast. This is my dad's Jensen Interceptor that he saved from the junk yard. He dropped a 440 magnum into it (the original engine was a smaller Chrysler V8 too).

Is that a before or after pic because those don't look like Potenza tires and I don't see a sign of an intercooler on there unless you have it under the hood and even then, there doesn't look like there's much room for it under the hood.

That pic was Fall last year, the tires on there then were just some BFgoodwrich radials (which were some decent tires I'll say). The intercooler was installed around late January. It's a used Spearco, and it fit fairly nice, it was a bit of a tight fit but it worked out good.
Mob does Ford still make brand new Rangers? I used to see a ton of them around but it seems like their slowly fading away.

Yes, they still make them. They are very popular by me. They make great Pre-Runners.
Here's my 1997 F250 Heavy Duty. I had the Make-A-Wish Foundation fix some of it, but I put my own money into it afterwards as well. They put a new custom paintjob in, fixed the interior (leather bench seat, cleaned the dash, added an Audiobahn stereo system), new tires and rims (Eagle Alloy Beadlocks), and a Flowmaster 40 Series exhaust.
Then I put on a 3" Performance Accessories body lift, added a Go Rhino rollbar, and a toolbox. This summer, I'll be getting a custom 3.5" suspension lift, flaring out the fenders, adding a skidplate in front, putting offroad lights on the rollbar, and new 34" BFG Mud Terrains.
This is what it originally looked like.
Then after Make-A-Wish.
Then after I worked on it some.
And will look like by this summer (except paintjob).
The only bad thing is that I have to drive 9 hours to San Diego for the lift, body work, and skidplate. It's gonna be a biotch on gas and mileage.

I guess it's just all a matter of where you live. I see a ton of Rangers around here and the newer models look nice as hell.

For real. I have always been interested in modded cars and stuff, but I never actually got into doing it. I mod guitars anyway :)

Does it have a FMIC or a TMIC or maybe a side unit? Doesn't look like much air flow under the hood seems like a FM is the only way to go.
My car 2004 Subaru STi:
View of it with no TMIC
Nice view of the new turbo
Mods on it: HKS High-Power Exhaust, HKS Typhoon Intake, HKS BOV, Perrin downpipe, Cobb Access Port, Defi guages, Turbo timer, Perrin Inlet Hose, Perrin Fuel System, performance clutch (I didn't do that though) and some no name turbo upgrade because I was on a budget. Also cleared headlights. I got it dyno tuned last fall and it made like 367AWHP and like 410 lbs torque. I have FMIC piping and core but I don't know if I wanna put it on might just get a bigger TMIC but I def need a bigger one.

Yea it's front mounted.
Question for you guys. In your respected states do you need to have a license plate in the back and front? Here in PA a back is only required but in NJ and NY I know a plate on both ends is needed.
