Obviously you missed the point of that. He had to basically make a decision because a large group of people were demanding of what they want to happen. If he didn't make the decision they wanted, then he would've been eaten alive by this group.

They're also looking at this guys past instead of seeing him in obvious pain over the fact that he can't see his own son graduate based on something that happened 10 some odd years ago. Like I said, Society gets what they want, no matter who it hurts. They want to see justice served cold.

That's the point though, justice should be served cold. In order for it to be effective, justice must be indifferent, it must be unaccommodating. That doesn't happen as often as it should, though it should more than it doesn't.

In this case there's a man who committed a serious crime 10 years ago. Some could say he's changed since then, some could say that he's an entirely different man, but the fact remains that he committed the crime.

The victim has no choice but to live with that for the rest of their life. He shouldn't have it any different.

If he really wanted to honor and respect his son, he would lead by example, accept the consequence of what he did, and not disrupt his graduation by attending.

He should be allowed to show up to the graduation but under police supervision. I know I would be pissed if I was in his situation.

I wonder what's going to happen when his son graduates from high school.

Does anyone here realize how many girls around that age wrongfully accuse someone they know of rape, because after intercourse they realize they made a bad decision and sue for money. Thats just how a lot of todays society is. In this instance I say let the guy in because for 1 it was almost 20 years ago when he was 17 years old, people change. But I believe that not even the justice system can rightfully prove who is right and who is wrong.

This is why I think there should be a 2 yr "buffer zone" for relationships... minimum. Yeah, it might seem a little weird for a high school sophomore to date a senior, or a freshman and a junior to hook up, but it's not that uncommon, and it's ******** that some people pay for this kind of stuff for the rest of their lives, even if it wasn't rape. Plus, in just one or two years, it's not even weird at all. And who is to say what is socially/sexually acceptable in the first place, anyway?

But, that said, he did commit a felony, so he should be punished. But, I personally believe he should just be a "regular" sex offender (for lack of a better term) instead of a sex offender against children... or whatever. He obviously wasn't a pedophile, so why should he be treated like one?

Anyway... just whatever. It's all too complicated, and every case is different in some way or another. No law will be able to encompass every permissible act; someone will get ****ed over in the end.
