If digital media is your preference, I'd suggest using Amazon.com. Like iTunes, Amazon's mp3s are DRM-free (meaning you can play them on anything, copy them as many times as you want, whatever), and they're only $.99/track and prices are cheaper if you buy the whole album.
Where Amazon differs from iTunes is that Amazon encodes their mp3s at 256 kbs while iTunes is a lousy 128 kbs. Amazon is the #1 mp3 retailer, so their selection is good.
Walmart.com is the #2 national mp3 retailer, and their service is very similar to Amazon's. Also at 256kbs and DRM-free, but with slightly lower prices, and a little less of a selection.
iTunes is the #3 national mp3 retailer.

Get it from friends, especially if you're in college. Here, if I want a particular album, it's almost guaranteed that someone on my floor will have it.

That sucks that colleges nowadays are cracking down like that. I used to download like a madwoman with my school's awesome T connection back in the day.
Surprisingly, law school is pretty lax on the whole downloading thing as well. One of my professors asked me to bootleg Office 08 for Mac for him. I graciously declined though.

I can't understand why people think they can stop kids from doing this. There are so many ways to download songs, it's rediculous. There's no way you can get all of them to stop it, so just let it go already.
I admit, it does suck for up-and-coming artists, but it's really unaviodable now a days. Garunteed, I have probably half my Itunes library from LimeWire. I do purchase new bands that I really, really like though. Or old ones that I still support. In example, you'll never see me download a Tool album.

Download a program called Audacity 1.2.6 from download.com and it will record what plays out of your speakers. Then you can save and export your "project" (song) as an Mp3 and then use Itunes and click on File>Import... and find where you saved your song and import it.. Only free/legal i can think of.
~~Audacity is not an illegal downloading program! It just records what comes out of your speakers. Ps: when you record make sure your volume is at a decent level of noise so you don't record something too soft.

Back onto topic, is that Audacity able to take out that fuzz from the radio?

Is has noise reduction filters, I think one is specifically for removing "hiss". It's what I use for recording music so if anyone has any questions I might be able to help.
