"Almighty Pod"
I've just read this in the paper this morning. Sounds like things could get interesting.
Taken from The Sun Newspaper
"Researchers at Glasgow University have created a miniscule switch which can squeeze up to one million gigabytes of memory onto one square inch. The current maximum is about 3.3 gigabytes."
That means that iPods in the future could hold 150,000 times the number of songs they can hold now. 150,000.
Surely that will come across to videogaming in the near future. It can only be good news.

You didn't accidentally pick up a copy from April 1st did you? A Petabyte is a ridiculous amount of storage. And how would a switch have any amount of storage capacity anyway?
I'd love to be proven wrong, but on the face of it, it seems like standard tabloid craziness. I'd assume the tech sites would have picked up on it if it was accurate.

Wow, you're right - apologies for the doubt! Looks like it's still a long way off from being included in consumer devices though. I look forward to such a crazy device though - now to acquire 1PB of MP3s!

Off the top of my head: 4,420 years, 266 days, 3 hours, 9 minutes and 31 seconds.
Blimey. Linky.

That's really insane, and would open endless doors if it gets used.
It's amazing how much technology has progressed in the past 60 years. Makes you think about what happened to get the ball rolling.

I think that once this period of time is old enough to be in history books, it will probably be called the technological revolution or something similar.
but damn, a petabyte, you'de never run out of space, well, i guess we'd find a way lol.

Especially once we get into the realm of holographic projection, even more-so once it's on a lifesize scale.
Instead of listening to music in your home, imagine having the artist/band projected there from a studio or concert recording. That'd be awesome.
Of course that'd also be a great use for porn. Which, ya know, is the first thing that really came to my mind.
