MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials say a domestic dispute left a mother shot to death in front of her young son.

Police responded to a domestic dispute call at the Marbrisa Apartments located at 15601 NW 52 Ave. around 7 a.m. Thursday. "When they arrived, they found a deceased Hispanic female inside the apartment of an apparent gunshot wound," said Detective Robert Williams of the Miami-Dade Police Department. "Inside that apartment, also, was a 4 to 5-year-old child."

Family members are devastated with the ordeal and believe the woman's estranged husband is the shooter. Police have only admitted they are questioning somebody who they have not identified. "At this particular point we have a person that we have detained for interviewing in connection to this case," said Williams.

Family members said the couple has been separated a few years. However, last night, the estranged husband went to the victim's apartment and they called police, but, they said, he must have returned this morning.

Officials are investigating the scene.

This happened where I live. Its pretty sad how things like this happen. When I was coming in today a police man was asking everyone if they had proof that they lived here.

I just wanted to know if anyone has ever had something like this happen close to their home and couldnt believe it.

i have heard so many issues like this in our town. it was horrible and terrifying! sometimes, in our house, i even get paranoid!

I'm glad I live in the said to be "safest state". There isn't a lot of crime in North Dakota besides vandalism, drugs, etc. You never hear of too many murders though.

Theres always a shooting or stabbing in London. Nothing that too close to me though. Luckily.

My city is like one of the top 100 so we normally dont see anything bad around here. There was one double homicide in the past couple years and thats it.... and it was like right by my house, but it was like some drug dealing so it wasn't random. Thank God.

We just had our big yearly street parade / festival. It's where you see everyone you've ever known, hated or dated. And two guys got into an argument outside of a bar and the other guy whips out a gun and unloads the clip into the dude at point blank range. The shooter was tackled and beaten half to death by an angry mob. This kind of behaviour doesn't happen in my town. The Victim unfortunatly leaves a fatherless child behind, the killer didn't care because he already has terminal cancer. They should've just duked it out.

That kind of stuff happens all of the time where I live. Well, not where I live, but around where I live. I live in between Toledo and Detroit. I'm always seeing **** like this on the news. It's ****ed up, but it doesn't bother me so much as it used to. You're born, you die; that's your life. I guess you could say I have a nihilistic point of view.

There was a double homicide in the place where I lived when I was about 8 or 9. I knew the people, too. They were really nice (they had a Genesis, was pretty cool), but they were also into drugs, and that was the general reason three people stormed inside their house one night and murdered them.

I was young, so I didn't fully grasp the situation. It was just kinda like, "Bummer, they were cool..."

Luckily there have been no murders in my area. I live in a pretty small, close knit community, where everyone knows everyone. We do have our fare share of weirdo's, like any other place, and a lot of scumbags, but no murderers.

We do have a lot of people die every year though due to alcohol. There have already been 4 deaths this year, and about 16 last year. The most popular one is when people drink here I guess they like to go out and walk on the ice, usually falling through and drowning. There are more bars here than shopping locations. There are 6 bars for just drinking, and just about every restaurant has an eating place and either upstairs or downstairs is another bar.

Yeah, where I live there are about 15-20 people that die each year in alchohol related accidents. I now live in a very rural area, and there isn't much to do here except go to a bar. Plus, during the Winter the roads suck. People get into a lot of accidents during the Winter around here because there are so many miles of back roads that aren't class A roads, so they don't get plowed as often or salted. Couple that with the drunk drivers and you'll have multiple fatalities each Winter season.
