Here's an interesting article about a man who got mugged, turned the other cheek, and hopefully helped turn someone around in life.
I'm not sure if I'd act the same way. I try to help people out whenever I can. I always give the homeless any money I've got and I've even gone drinking with a couple of them, but I don't think I'd react the same way to a mugger.
If I knew I had something really valuable in that wallet, I would have done the same thing if I knew I would end up getting my wallet back.
I have never given a homeless person a penny, and don't intend to. If they need money, than can go visit the local government building where they will gladly hand them a car, house, job, and some money to get them off the ground.
If someone tried to mug me I might call an ambulance for them afterward (use your imagination), but other than that... fair is fair.
The only nice thing that I can say I routinely do for strangers is maybe even up the odds in a street fight, or making sure it finishes quickly, and even that involves hurting other people. So thats worth even less... but **** it, you know? I make sure nobody gets severely hurt in any brawls I may come across, I figure there are other people who specialise in helping people in other situations. This chap is a social worker, it could be said that he is just working overtime (in quite some style though).
