More school shooting nonsense
So I'm home from school today because my school received a shooting threat. Last week someone spray-painted "3-12", (which is today's date), all over the school. The school tried to paint over it, but some students saw it and found out there might be either a big fight or a possible shooting. So, naturally, word got around and I mean fast... Deans told parents they didn't have to send their kids to school if they didn't want to and there are several cops at the school right now.

I never expected this to happen at my school because it's in a very quiet and easy going area and we don't have any gangs or kids that would really want to do such a thing. It's pretty scary, but I'll admit that I'm enjoying my time at home. Hell, I might go over to my friend's house and play some Brawl.

Everything is getting nuts out there.

Recession , record high gas prices , people losing jobs at record levels , record high foreclosures, sky high food prices , parents working 2 to 3 jobs and still not able to make ends meet , etc etc..... These kids go to school seeing their parents stressed out as heck, and let it out there.

In all seriousness, our country is in some really rough times right now. Their saying the next "Great Depression" will happen rapidly and not slowly over time like the first one. Nowadays everything is covered up until the last second...then the bottom falls out. The chaotic rises and falls that the stock market has been experiencing lately is just out there to protect the rich before the big one hits.

Yea, but we are much smarter now than we were before... I'm sure we can fend better during and pull out much faster than the last one. Learning from mistakes helps prepare for the next one.

Nothing but stupid threats. When I was in middle school which was like over 7 years ago we had bomb/death threats every month. It was not out of the norm. It was rather nice, we got to go outside and sit in the field while a bomb squad ripped through our lockers for 2 hours. One time they tryed to make every stand the whole time to "set an example" but that was ********. I remember one kid had a heat stroke and passed out, that was the end of "that lesson"

I was about to get sent home from college today, the centre manager thought the roof was about to blow off again an it's a pretty new building.

I can't count how many times we were evacuated from my school in Florida over bomb threats and stuff like that. One time someone from a school pay phone claimed they saw someone with a gun so we were locked in our classrooms for 3 hours while the police helicopter landed in the middle of the school and a team searched the place. Didn't search people though.

They wouldn't even let us outside if it started lightning because some kid in another state got hit by it while waiting for a school bus.

I still can't see why schools think it is a good idea to congregate people in the same place when there could be a bomb/mad gunman on the loose. Surely it would be an easier target?

Students get locked down in classrooms because a shooter is more likely to turn the gun on themselves after wasting one classroom, rather than turning corridors and outside the school into a target rich environment in which a gunman will be more likely to keep firing until ammunition runs out. The body count should, theoretically, be lower in most instances. Not much consolation if you're in one of the indefensible rooms that gets attacked, but still.

My school had one of those days before. It was on April 20th, which is my birthday. So I took the day off and chilled. :)

My school had a threat a couple weeks ago. Two kids made hit and rape lists and supposedly going to bring guns to school. But they got expelled and there was like 10 cops there. Nothing happened.
In other news there was a bad *** food fight today though.

This reminds me of last October when something similar happened at Kansas University. The new Coheed CD was scheduled to come out 10/28/07. Someone spraypainted the keywork (the Coheed logo) and 10/28/08 under it. The school shut down on that date. You can never be too careful

Well most of you said that it happened quite often at your schools. I'm a senior and have only encountered this once in all the 4 years I've been there. My school is a very relaxed and safe (mostly) school. It's actually one of the best in the area because of its relaxed environment. There is a waiting list for transfer students that stretches up to 2 years for admittance to the school even. So you can imagine why there was such a big fuss about the threat.

But everyone had fun at the Faculty Dodgeball Tournament versus the school's rivalry tonight, lol.
