Politicians
I know this is a gaming forum, and it's not usually the norm to get into deep political or philosophical debates. But I wanted to know if anybody actually trusts their government or politicians. In the UK the government has just announced the new budget for the year, taxes etc. I just feel as though whatever they say or do in the media is spun or not the whole truth. I'm no conspiracy theorist or anything I just think we get taken for a ride and they tell us what they think we want to hear sometimes. And no-one seems to want to do anything about it. I don't know. Anyway, let me know what you think, wherever you are in the world.

I just read up on that. Surely if your the govenor of new york you wouldn't go anywhere near prostitues, or get caught at least . But I mean more in the way that the government seem to take us for a ride. Introduce new "Green taxes" at the same time as the price of a barrell of oil increases. Yet they all drive Jags. Pfft..

Politicians have been corrupt for milleniums... there is no point in trying to stop it. The problem in the US and UK is that the major political parties are very central on the political spetrum... if you get a good old left versus right situation outside of a civil war the political party's are sufficiently far removed from each other so that criticism doesn't really work anymore.
For instance Brown has the Tories breathing down his neck and if he admits any weakness at all he will get raped. Whereas if Labour truly were the socialist organisation they claim to be they would just give the Conservatives the fingers and go about their business, with the Tories essentially unable to do much as the policies would be radically different to their own. Basically, if the other guy is just a different shade of the same ****, such as they are both sides of the Atlantic, they both have to paint the best picture possible.
Could be worse, we could be in a one party state.

You are new, search around and you will see hundreds of political debaits. We cover all topics and love to argue.
Only thing that pisses me off about our Gov in the US is that they are doing nothing to lower the gas prices while the oil companies are making 300% profit.

I doubt they are doing "nothing". The problem is all the B.S. it takes to get anything done. And the amount of time it takes to do it. In the meantime we (You and I and everyone else) are left to struggle.
I agree something needs to be done, but I know it wont be anytime soon. We gots to keep on keeping on until they throw us a bone.
