Problems in South America
For those of you that do not know the situation developing between Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, here is a couple of links.

Colombian FARC commander killed - Americas - MSNBC.com (Why Venezuela and Ecuador have their panties up in a bunch)

Venezuela troops deploy to Colombia border - Americas - MSNBC.com

Venezuela-Colombia conflict widens - Americas - MSNBC.com

Both Venezuela and Ecuador have severed diplomatic ties and closed their Embassies in Bogota, Colombia. To think they mobilized a substantial number of troops to the border is a rediculous response to the original incident. The weird thing is if I read right, Venezuela closed the borders and not allowing trucks to pass between the countries but Venezuela depends heavily on certain foods like milk, eggs and other basic foods from Colombia. Chavez (Venezuelan Presidnet) is out to overthrow the Colombian government because it hsa different political views (and he hates the Colombian presidents guts). He also shows sympathy toward the guerrilla forces (FARC) in Colombia. If nothing happens soon then I see another war where the US may get dragged into.

We will only do something if our oil being imported from Venezuela is affected...and because Chavez is already threatening to stop shipping oil here because of his belief that Exxon Mobil and the United States government are planning to create some economic unrest in the nation (Exxon pulled out of some multimillion dollar project recently) that might happen. He is also pissed that we recently froze somehting like $12 billion dollars in assets.

On the other side of the coin, we are the biggest consumers of his oil and he will need money to fund his army so we'll be good no matter what I guess.

I think the US would intervene even if Venezuela didn't cut the oil exports off because of stong US relations with Colombia. We have been aiding them in military aid to fight the narco trafficking and defeat the FARC. It would also be a perfect chance to shut Chavez trap up because he really likes to ***** and whine. He had no business instigating the situation between two other nations.
