LOS ANGELES - Dane Cook has broken a Laugh Factory endurance record set less than a month ago by Dave Chappelle.
In what is becoming a heated battle between the two comedians, Cook told jokes at the Sunset Strip comedy club for 7 hours, beating the record Chappelle, 34, set at 6 hours and 12 minutes in December.
Cook went on stage Tuesday and continued until nearly 7 a.m. Wednesday, and at one point even sent out for food to keep the audience fed and happy.
"If this rivalry keeps up I'm going to turn the Laugh Factory into a bed and breakfast," club owner Jamie Masada said.
Last April, Cook set a record with an act lasting 3 hours and 50 minutes, breaking a mark set by Richard Pryor in 1980 of 2 hours and 41 minutes. Chappelle broke the record later that month, then broke his own record in December.
Cook, 35, most recently appeared with Steve Carell in the film "Dan in Real Life."
Man, I can't imagine what he'd sound like after performing for 7 hrs straight.
And how much of that material was good? I like Dane Cook just as much as the next person, I suppose, but no comedian alive has 7 hours of great material.

Yea, personally I can't stand Dane Cook anymore. He was funny at first, but now he's annoying. He acts really cocky during his shows and it makes him seem like a total douchebag. My cousin showed me him when he first started performing (before a majority of people heard of him), and I thought it was pretty funny, but after hearing him repeat his jokes at every show, I'm tired of him.
So, to me, he was standing up making crappy jokes for seven hours.
I've listened to for a long time now and he never gets old. I wouldn't mind being there for the seven hour show, but I certainly wouldn't sit for seven hours of Chappelle.

Why?
Chappelle is, and will forever be, 10x the comedian Cook is. Cook is NOT funny, at all. The only time Ive ever seen him be a little funny was in the movie "Waiting..."
I hope chapelle beats the record again, because dane cook isnt not funny at all. Dont see why people like him.

I don't see the comedy in Chappelle. Cook is much more hilarious than Chappelle will ever be.

I like them both a lot. They have very different material. I just don't like that Chapelle's main focus is racism. It's hilarious, yes. But it really isn't that hard to think of racist stereotypical jokes. I believe Dane Cook puts much more thought into his jokes.

Not to mention, they are things people can EASILY relate with.
