I can hardly wait to go off to school. I live in suburb of Minneapolis and I'm going to a private school called Augsburg College which is downtown there. I got accepted to every school I applied, but when I chose my school I just followed my heart. I didn't want to go to a public school where all my friends are going because I know I will become a lot more successful then most of them because they're going there to party and their homework won't be that bad. All I will say is think about yourself when you make your final decision, don't let others make your choice.

I've been working as a computer programmer for one of the top telcos in the world for several years, and I have no degree.

Wow that is a really really incorrect statement. College is essential now a days. Even if you don't use your degree in the field that it is in having a degree with get you places. No one can go and apply for a job with just a high school degree. You need either an education or experience. You might have the experience just like my dad. My dad can get a job because he has a ton of experience in his field however if he applied for a job without experience or a degree he would be ****ed. You need one or the other, a degree or the experience in that field.

Right on, I also noticed that if you go to website that ask will tell you your salary in life. They ask you the question if you have a college degree. I did some entering and it estimated I would make around $40,000 a year more with a college degree.

It is listed on the first page the averages... but it is proven with a bachlor you make over 1 million more in a life time than a high school grad. Masters makes over 2 million more than high school. PhD makes almost 5 million more than a high school grad

I'm having a great inner debate:
Is it worth bringing my desktop and buying a cheap laptop to go along, or to blow 2k on a nice laptop and have the hassle of transferring files and re-installing pirated software?
What exactly are the best ideas as far as computers and tvs go?

Laptop - you can bring the best stuff to class where you need it. Also, its easy transfering stuff...and college kids can download free legal music from Ruckus. you cant put it on your ipod, it stays on your comp. Plus, desktop takes up alot of room and frosh dorms are small.
Tv... ive seen some nice ones, my roomie has a flat screen, kinda big i guess. I brought my 1992 box tv for socom.

My thought on college is TRY NOT TO TAKE OUT STUDENT LOANs, with the interest rate on them you will pay back double what you take out. I used to work for A student loan consolidation company and it is amazing what people take out for school now a days. I was lucky getting school payed for playing basketball! Those who are thinking about going to private school your going to pay way more and i don't advise going that route. Those are my 2cents

Hmmm college.
My college consisted on living in a dump of a rented apartment. Working at UPS from 5 to 11 loading trucks. Doing homework and studying after work. Sleeping for like 3 to 5 hours a night and taking class the rest of the day. I lived off of microwaved potatoes, viana sausages and cool add. I ate and drank that crap for four years. While still keeping a 3.5 gpa. What a way to live. heheh. Wouldn't trade that experience for the world. I was paying for college myself so I had no time for parting and that sort of tom foolery.
