I have many tattoos. Some advice:
1. Plan it - it seems like you're doing that already, so well done.
2. Don't get something faddy. Yes, OK, you love HIM now, because you're all young and angsty. But one day you'll finish puberty, realise they suck, and you'll want to cut your skin off.
3. Eat well and drink before you go. You don't want to faint and look like an idiot.
4. Don't drink alcohol or do drugs before you go. You will bleed like a stuck pig, and nobody wants that.
5. Believe that it hurts like a *****. Don't let anyone tell you different.
6. After you get it, treat it well. Moisturise it, and don't pick the scabs. You'll ruin the look of the finished product.

Yup. Get that blood sugar up. Took me 10 minutes before I was drenched in sweat and ready to pass out.

Most places don't even tattoo people that appear high or drunk. But I guess even a little will still be too much. I had no alcohol or drugs in my system when I got mine, but I still bled a little, so I'd say be expecting it just in case.

My parents told me different, but they got their tattoos on something with a little more meat than the spine.

Yup. All things the artist should be saying.


And just like my brother (who has a USMC arm band and I believe one or two more) told me, I'll post here, tats can be addicting. About two months after getting mine I was working on a design for a half sleeve. I never did finish the design though. If I ever do I'll post it here.

None taken. You're probably right, but at the end of the day it's a symbol that Ville Valo made up to be the HIM logo. Whatever kind of 'meaning' you make up and attach to it after the fact, the fact remains that it's their logo that they created for their band. It's like getting a Pepsi tattoo and claiming to others that they shouldn't criticize because 'they don't know the true meaning'.

I don't want to offend or anything, really, so I'm sorry if I come across that way. It's just my opinion.

I have three tatoos, but I don't really think they are considered actual tatoos.

They are three small dots. One under each arm and one right below where my ribs end. They are from radiation treatment to line of lasers for when I lay on the table. They took a drop of ink and stuck a pen with a needle on the end into my skin. It was annoying because the guy kept messing up and the needle was going between ribs.

I might make one of the dots into an actual tatoo, lol.

I fully agree that you shouldn't drink before getting in the chair. However, there's nothing wrong with relaxing yourself in certain ways before you get in the chair.
As far as the pain...different strokes for different folks. It hurts in some places more than others and to me I think it feels good.
Every Tat Parlor should suggest you use A + D Ointment, INKSLNGR is a professional artist and might suggest otherwise but that's all I've ever used.

None of mine hurt, at all. I can take pain, a lot of it, so I think that had something to do with it. Like Nun said, it's different strokes for different folks.
