Why every other Country hates America.

To add to some points.

The United States, no matter what you think, does strive for the well being of this world. Why? It benefits us as a country. Not just Republicans or Democrats. The security and prospierity (sp?) of foreign countries directly affects this country. We benefit in trade with other countries to get what we need.

Hating America is nothing new. Writer James W. Caeser describes the strong dislike of U.S. culture that is found globally,

"Anti-Americanism . . . is certainly nothing new. Over a half-century ago, the novelist Henry de Montherlant put the following statement in the mouth of one of his characters (a journalist): “One nation that manages to lower intelligence, morality, human quality on nearly all the surface of the earth, such a thing has never been seen before in the existence of the planet. I accuse the United States of being in a permanent state of crime against humankind.” America, from this point of view, is a symbol for all that is grotesque, obscene, monstrous, stultifying, stunted, leveling, deadening, deracinating, deforming, and rootless."

The discussion of anti-Americanism has been a topic of widespread debate for years despite the fact that a large number of Americans often seemed unaware of it. At least I was. As a result of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, many Americans became aware of the world’s hatred for the United States.

So, why do they a.) hate, b.) fear, c.) envy, d.) resent US?

At the harmless end of the chain is the envy brought on by the United States wealth and might. Anyone who has been king of the hill for very long will find others cheering his occasional stumble or trying to knock him off outright. Arrogance, real or imaginary, adds combustion to emotion.

Move along the chain a notch and you encounter resentment at the pervasive spread of American pop culture. Travel in remote regions of B.F.E. , and you soon discover there is no corner anywhere in the world that has escaped the reach of satellite television propagating, through CNN news, "Baywatch" reruns and all the dman infomercials, America's particular gospel of material wealth, sexual license and instant-gratification consumerism.

"The French, who measure our intellectual sophistication by Disney World and our cuisine by McDonald's, are in a class by themselves for their disdain of American culture. Most others around the world find themselves culturally crushed by the steamroller of Hollywood movies and television shows, unable to prevent their young people from wearing American-style clothing or listening to rock or rap music."

Farther along the chain, resentment evolves into fear.

America did not invent the want of material wealth and sexual freedom. These have forever been part of the human condition. But ideas such as representative democracy, individual freedom have either sprung forth or come into their own in this modern era. These are America's most powerful exports and pose the greatest threat to extreme fundamentalist anywhere in the world.

A satellite dish, a VCR or an Internet connection will open the spigot and out will flow a stream of the worst and the best of Americana.

I also thought this was amazing while researching my facts,

America, more than any other country in the world, represents the highest aspirations of men, women and children of every race and nationality, every cultural or religious group, who dream of freedom, opportunity and a better life."

With that being said is it really just envy? You will always have your few who say I hate America. I moving to Canada. Will they really? Does it matter? In my opinion, NO. Do not cloud our dreams of growth and wealth.

You don't see because you either don't want to, do don't bother to look. Canada isn't a warring nation. We're not foolish enough to march around policing the world and bending others to our will. Canada was built on compromises, and we still believe that a peaceful route is always the best one. That is why we invented peacekeeping, and that's why we've participated in every single peacekeeping operation. Canadians are over in Afganistan as we speak, helping the population overcome years of tyranny. That's right. Helping them. Not forcing them to do what we want them to, we're helping them achieve the Afghanistan that they want. France too, doesn't police the world. But the French don't sit idly by and do nothing!

Oh, and Great Britian? How about... Iraq? They're in there too, dying beside Americans, and you say that they're doing nothing?

Radio I never accused Canada of being a non-aggressive nation. In all honosty, Canada's society practically mirrors American society in terms of its freedoms, laws and general viewpoints on daily issues. I hate it when Americans put down the Canadian people because there is no need to disrespect a country that has not disrespected us in any way shape or form. And just so you know, I am ware of the fact that Canada is involved in countless peace negotiations.


Britain is over in Iraq with us and I apologize for making it seem like we were the only ones fighting. But it seems my statement about France's foreign policy remains unchallenged

Canada is in Afghanistan, Bosnia, something else, and some other poor country doing it's peacekeeping duties. Just because we don't march into other people's countries and blow it to smitherines doesn't mean we don't do anything.
