I guarantee that this wouldn't be able to work. The game stores that are taking these trade-in "specials" will more than likely have a list of games that will "not apply" to getting the discount on the new system. I've seen them do this kind of thing before...

Creep your right, they have a list of their most popular games and only those apply to the offer. I tried this when I traded in the Thing for ps2 and Top Gun for Ps2. Top Gun worked but The Thing wasn't on their "list" so I got jack for it. I kept The Thing of course.

Did you just say a Wii is woth 700 dollars? More like 250 dollars.

$250 for the Wii. That is so under priced, why are all the nintendo systems basically "given away". PS2's are almost more than that over here.

I always love going back and playing old games, that's what makes them so great: replayability. I haven't checked EBay, but Im sure I could find one for a decent price though.
With that said..I'm not going to trade anything in order to get $50 off on the Wii. I think I would be losing out of the deal, considering you need above average games in order to obtain the discount.

Why would you keep the system if there is backwards capability though? Seems like a waste of money/space to do that to me... You could still revisit the old games on the new system, right? (The older systems that are not backwards capable I can understand...)
I don't think I'd trade in my PS2 for a Wii, but I'd trade in the PS2 for a PS3... Or better yet, if there's any demand for the system, sell it on ebay first and use that money toward the PS3 so that the middle man doesn't get your potential profit.

Ouch... this isn't good news to hear at this time, not with their North America launch set to go sometime within 48 hours.

Well, just look at the bright side. There hasnt been any SEVERE problems, forcing them to have a recall as of yet. So, lets just hope this is the only problem.
