Are Wii games 'dumbed down' too much? I was reading an interesting article about how the Nintendo Wii Dumbs down its games at another nintendo forum, and was just checking on everyone else's thoughts from a wider audience and more gaming experience.

Different The Wii is designed to be friendly to everyone, but there are some games that are actually fairly difficult, or strike a good balance in my opinion.
But it's not a hardcore gamer platform, because hardcore gaming developers don't seem to be embracing it.
The experience is different, interesting and different, but with its own problems.
The Wii as a system works fine; it just needs another hit or two to climb back on top, in my opinion.
And don't forget that the Wii has an advantage in that it does not necessarily have to keep hardcore gamers satisfied. -

I don't think Nintendo dumbs down things. The games other companies make for the wii seem to be pretty dumb, but then again, I think it's normally that way.
I don't see any change in the way Nintendo makes their own games. -

nintendo doesn't dumb their games down, if they did the games would suck( & i'm talking about games like mario & zelda, including metroid) i can't say the same thing about the 3rd parties who make games like red steel, carnivel games, deca sports. it really depends on the company on whether they have a history of dumbing games or not -
The Wii does have some good games but in all honesty it has more crap than not crap. I don't think Nintendo is at fault I think as usual it is their partners lack of commitment and understanding that is the problem. -

Wii fans are always fit, enough said. :) -
I've never played a Wii game, but if I had to speculate I'd guess that the reason the Wii experience feels so dumbed down is because it is. The hardware of the console itself is only capable of so much, and the controller scheme and mechanics have their own limitations as well due to the technology they went with. -

The Wii Is fun when you first try It out, but I got over It relatively fast.
(at least for the game I was playing) -

There IS a change that the Wii brought down, but it's impossible for there not to be change for so unique a console. The games may not be "dumbed down", but there is definitely an upswing in the production of casual games for the newfound casual Nintendo fans. -

It sometimes does seem like they are a little dumbed down, think what happens is a lot of the Wii games are made for the young Japanese market rather Americans. -

Yes, they made the Wii for everyone. So essentially, anyone would be able to play it. It makes it more about the controller, and how you use it in the games. But since it's Nintendo and goes along with Mario and all those classics, I think it's worth playing. Also because you can buy old games from any system. It's not that it's dumbed down, it's just simpler, easier for someone who's never played a game in their life to start. -
