We have no leverage against Iran. They know this administration isn't stupid enough (Christ I hope so) to start another war in the Middle East. We simply don't have the money or the resources to effectively threaten a country the size of Iran. They fuel our war machine, and once that oil is cut, our tanks will grind to a halt. And as for nukes, you know as well as I do that's just silly.

His comments came after Iran's oil minister warned in Madrid Wednesday that an attack on his country would provoke a fierce response "that nobody can imagine."

That's the big hint. He knows that Iran cannot stand up against the US in conventional warfare. That means a surge in terrorism unlike any we have seen. I would not be surprised if terorrist groups are already in posession of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, and will be willing to use them in the US if Iran is attacked.

Yeah, it's funny how we keep pissing off the very people we so desperately rely upon. If Iran cut-off the oil, we'd be so f#cked. We're talking like $80/gal f#cked.

I believe they do, which is a scary thought. If they nuke us we retaliate, which then makes others, and before we know it the world is gone and Canada is laughing its *** off.
The big news is where we might be cut off by Irans oil, which would screw everyone.

It's not so much that there's something new...it's just how tense the situation is getting. The thinly-veiled threats and peace through deterrence is reminiscent of the Cold War. This situation has to soon either blow up violently or defuse diplomatically, and the scary part is that both situations seem likely. If Israel or the US plan on striking Iran, they would do so in the coming few months before Bush is out (and before Iran can complete whatever weapons programs they might have operating).
If it doesn't happen before winter, then I doubt it will ever happen. Unless, that is, Iran strikes us directly, which is unlikely, or indirectly by supplying weapons to terrorists, which may already be true.

You guys are joking, right?
Alaska alone has more oil than all of the ME combined.
Iran reminds me of Hitler and Nazi Germany. They keep doing dumb **** but only get a slap on the wrist. At least it's not as intense as invading other countries, but it's very similar.

If Alaska is so rich with oil, then why are we paying through the nose for it?

We are paying so much because we are not drilling in Alaska because of politicians whom are mostly democrats refusing to drill there to preserve natural habitat. Even both of our candidates are against the drilling in Alaska. They just want us to make more fuel efficient cars, which is not going to solve anything. We need to cut all ties to Middle East oil and start using what we have at home no matter where we have to drill.

You hit the nail on the head.
The liberal conservationists would rather pay five bucks a gallon than drill.
McCain is much more for drilling in Alaska than Obama, though.
On a side note, I couldn't help but laugh my *** off at this add on the top of the page...
