'Bird boy' found in Russia

A BOY can reportedly only communicate by 'chirping' - after living his life in a virtual aviary.

According to reports from Russia, the 7-year-old 'bird boy' has spent his life in a flat filled with bird cages with a mum who treated him like one of her pets.

Pravda said the boy's 31-year-old mum did not talk him and treated him like a bird, forcing him to learn avian language.

Social worker Galina Volskaya said shocked authorities discovered the boy in a two-bedroom apartment with bird mess littering the floor.

Volskaya said: “When you start talking to him, he chirps."

And she added that the boy becomes frustrated at not being able to communicate and flaps his arms.

Pravda reported that authorities believe the boy is suffering from Mowgli syndrome, after the Jungle Book character who is raised by wild animals.

The boy has reportedly been released by authorities and put in a medical facility.

And I've never heard of Mowgli Syndrome, either...

I'd consider this child neglect and the mother should be horribly punished, but I don't know how they handle stuff like this in Russia.

Wow. What kind of person would do that to a child? I am sure with proper rehabilitation and years of therapy he could rejoin society as a normal being.




But I would probably pay lots to see him flap his arms in fustration as well. Highway to hell, man. Haha.

That's pretty cool, so if he learns English he can reveal the secrets of how to speak bird? That would be a pretty sweet trait. Really sad life thou, but maybe because he's only 7 he wont remember it when he's 20.

Sorry to be grave digging, but I recently found out something interesting related to this kid. There was a boy brought up in a hen house back in the fifties about twenty miles from my home. He was found in 1956 when he was "7 years old, a mere 30 inches in height and weighing only two stone"... "The Sister who admitted him to a Nazareth House at the time related how the boy perched on his cot and cawed like a hen all through the first few weeks following his admission".

As to what happens to children like these... "Kevin left Nazareth House eventually for sheltered employment with the Sisters of Charity". Nasty!
