I've been down this road, and what made it worse was that it was a good friend I had to shitcan. He was playing keys, and I thought he could play, but in the end he was just good at making weird noises. He could never actually play in key with a melody.

If you can do lead, you should be able to do rythm. You'll just need to pick up the slack until you find someone else.

In other news I finally got the videos up from my band's first live show. We're recording a demo right now to send to clubs to get more shows, and I wrote three badass tunes tonight. It's awesome being in a band.
Well, I'm not advanced lead, no solos or two hand tapping or super fast stuff.

Just kind of intermediate, but my style still reflects lead-ish.

Lately of been writing ALTO of southern hardcore/metal type stuff, in drop D.

I'm starting to price stuff for my home studio.
I'm buying a new interface, two more dynamic mics, two more cables, and two more mic stands. $300.

I hope to be in a band soon, we just need one more person, and a little bit more skill.
I need to pick up a new guitar soon though.

My Epiphone Les Paul Special II just isn't cutting it anymore. Stays, decently in tune for like 30 minutes, of casual playing, if that. Like after 30 min when I go to re tune it doesn't even show up as a E when I pluck my E string., it will be either D# or D

I had a Special II for like a year. I hated my self for buying it.

I don't hate myself, it's a decent guitar to start on, only left handed one I could really afford at the time, I didn't want to shell out 500 bucks on something I didn't know if I was going to fully commit too.

Right now I'm saving up for that^
That's going to run me around $800 then $250 for some EMG's.
If I were to go the Gibson route, I was quoted $5000-$12000, a little too steep.

    I hate being a lefty.

Should pull a Hendrix and re-string a right hander.

And you shouldn't. The Bass Player in my band plays on a $150.00 Bass and he jams. It's good to start out on something like that until you do feel like committing to it. Hell I'm committed to playing on a $1500.00 Bass that I still don't know how to play.
I'm getting ready to sign up for leasons to get me out of my mental pothole.

    What are you doing?
    "Nothing I just gave up"
    advice?

That's not band practice ..That's just practice. Chemistry is key. From the get go the ideas and creativity should flow nonstop. Like OME6A said " Ditch him " if not attempt to ditch him and maybe he'll get your point. I'm not saying you should be a fully functioning band right off the bat but all of you should have a direct focus and work on one thing at a time in unison.

Man..I just want a Wild Boar Head complete with huge Tusks from about a 200- 300 pound carcass to mount to the front of my Congas and it's a struggle to find one of the bastards. I'm about to just grab my a shotgun and walk out into the woods behind my house and shoot one myself.

Since you'll be back in a week...

Be sure to check eBay for gear, I've gotten some really good deals on there. Mics that are like $150 at GuitarCenter I snagged for $45 each.

Not with an explorer man, it's so awkward to play, and uncomfortable. Before I found the Gaskell, I was going to shell out for this and reverse the strings.

It's a Gibson Guitar of the Month, Reverse Explorer.
But about 2 days after I saw the Gaskell, which had the switches in the right position and an actual Explorer headstock, which I can get in a choice of certain finishes.

Haha, that went over decently well. didn't get me laid, like everyone was saying, but we're still going out and I actually think that this maybe my first experience of being "in love" I could confidently say that right now, I could spend the rest of my life with her and be happy.

Played the show last night and opened for Seven Mary Three and Day of the New. It was overwhelming playing in front of so many people and by the second song I almost passed the F out. But overall it was awesome. Glad we only played for a half hour and we played first. There was 8 bands altogether and all 6 were totally blocked from hanging with the two headlining bands. But that didn't stop the band members of Days of the New from hitting on our women. They took the rejection like champs. The lead singer of Days of The New is a creepy creepy cat. I blazed the hell out of all the other bands and had a blast. I eventually ended up making out with a chick in the audience that kissed like an Amazon Pirahna and then she busted me with the " So...What's my name ????" line later in the evening. I hate when that happens.

Damn Nun, I'm jealous. I bet that was crazy.

    New bass I'm looking at:

    ESP LTD F-104:

    35 Scale
    Basswood Body
    Maple Neck
    Rosewood Fingerboard
    40mm Standard Nut
    Thin U Neck Contour
    24 XJ Frets
    Chrome Hardware
    ESP Tuners
    ESP DB-4 Bridge
    ESP SB-4 (B&N) p.u. w/ ESP ABQ-2 2-Band Active EQ
    Finish: BLK
    Thoughts?
