WORD BY WORD....FRAME BY FRAME ...everything you will need to know.....YOU WANTED TO KNOW....LIKE A FULL BLOWN NOVEL....PLEASE LEMME KNOW IF YOU GUYS INTERESTED... i have the full story ready....if i get some responses, i will start posting.....

I am a big fan of the Metal gear series, coz it has the most sophisticated storyline ever to grace a video game, let alone any forms of entertainment, arguably . The different charecters, the infinite plot twists have always impressed my young, but sophisticated ( rather, in need of it ) mind. This is the only game which will tinker with your emotions, even better that how hollywood does nowadays .

. The series has now peaked with MGS4, and i wish to give back something to the metal gear community and people who want to get into it.....you reached the right place.

I could note,however that very few know the storyline, let alone any part of it. It is understandable, because without starting from the first game, its difficult to follow this wonderful series.

i will Like to help, by posting a series of blogs which will explain the full storyline ( dialogue by dialogue, frame by frame---- kinda like a full blown novel ). After reading this, there will be nothing else you are left to know. that's my wish.

i have been getting a lot of messages asking me to continue. Thanks a lot, this will help me continue in this process.

I will be writing the series in the order which Kojima presented to us.....

1) Metal gear ( 1987, MSX2 / NES )
2) Metal gear - solid snake ( 1990 )
3) Metal gear solid ( 199
4) MGS2- Sons of liberty (2001)
5) MGS3 - Snake eater ( 2004)
6) mgs - portable ops ( 2006) -- might need to re-consider this for spoiler reasons !!!
7 ) Metal gear solid 4.

Most of those who try to chronicle metal gear that i have seen , tries to start with snake eater , so that they think they can explain from the start of the series. However, this causes nothing but more confusion. The newbies basically search for the word SOLID SNAKE all along and unable to find it, get confused and leave the whole thing....cursing the series and calling it inane and overtly twisted without purpose.

ok....guys...enough talk, i know. I will be starting over very soon..

METAL GEAR ( 1987 - NES )

The year is 1995....200 miles north of Garzburg, South Africa. Here, an armed forces nation calling itself "Outer Heaven" had declared itself an independent nation , a fortified state founded by a "legendary mercenary", who was feared in combat by both his friends and foes as a hero and a lunatic.

However, what the "Western" nations feared most was Top secret information which they managed to intercept, revealing that a weapon of mass destruction capable of rewriting war history is under development at Outer Heaven.

The elite special forces team Fox Hound was called upon in response,to gather further intelligence related to this supposed weapon of mass destruction. In response to this order, BIG BOSS , the commander-in-chief of FOX-HOUND, sent GREY FOX, the man with the code name "Fox" which is given to the best member of the unit "Operation intrude N313".

But a few days later, the contact with Grey Fox broke down after a short, incomplete message:

Deeply disturbed by the loss of communication with Grey Fox and the apparent urgency of his brief message, big boss decided to sent an another agent, Solid Snake, who had recently joined FOX-HOUND, into Outer Heaven to find Grey Fox and discover the secret of the mysterious Metal Gear.
Solid snake makes a solo infiltration to Outer Heaven via parachute . Big boss calls him and informs that he will be communicating to him via codec. Snake first got in touch with local resistance member - Kyle Schneider . Schneider was the leader of the resistance movement at Galzburgh, South Africa. He was once an architect who was forced to be part of Outer Heaven's design staff, but joined the underground movement when his wife and child were killed by them . He tells snake that he will lent his knowledge of the fortress layout , serving as a sort of navigator during the mission. He also mentions that one of his co-member JENNIFER , had managed to secretly infiltrate the fortress by posing as part of the medical staff to save her older brother, who is taken captive by Coward Duck . Schneider gives snake, Jennifer's frequency,mentioning she can be contacted in that frequency via codec.

Infiltrating the fortress by using stealth, Solid snake first manages to defeat Coward duck, who as the name suggests, uses cowardly tactics in battle. This time he uses Jennifer's brother as a shield. However, Snake found an opening against Duck and defeated him without harming the hostage. He calls up Jeniffer and informs the good news. Jennifer is happy, and gives snake the info that she had went to administer a drug to a prisoner who looked like a captured soldier, in the 2nd basement of the building. Snake reaches there and is happy to see Grey fox, his big buddy during their training years in FOXHOUND. However, Grey Fox reveals to him the startling information : about "Metal Gear" .
Metal Gear was the development name of a nuclear warhead-equiped twi-legged walking tank. It can walk through over the toughtest terrains that would stop normal tanks. It can conduct local warfare by itself with unique weapons like its vulcan-cannon and anti-tank missiles. It was indeed a new type of weapon that can conduct a nuclear attack against any place on the face of the Earth . With Metal Gear, Outer Heaven was trying to establish its military superiority over the entire world. He suggests that a leading scientist, Dr. Pettrovich had been taken hostage to finish work upon the METAL GEAR along with his daughter, Elen, to force her father to continue with his development.

Snake soon rescues Metal Gear's chief engineer Dr. Pettrovich and his daughter, Elen. Snake hears from Dr. Pettrovich, how to destroy Metal Gear.

Snake proceeds to the final building where METAL GEAR was housed. In between , connection with Schneider was cut, after last hearing the sound of schneider being captured.

Infact, the closer Snake comes up to the final building , the more difficult it became, well designed traps are set all around Snake --- as if someone revealed all his actions to the enemy. But Snakes indomitable spirit lead him to the 100th floor basement of the secret base where Metal Gear was developed. Evading the powerful defense system that wipes out all intruders, Snake ultimately succeeded in destroying Metal Gear.

Snake tried to escape from Outer Heaven upon completing the mission. However, during the escape he was confronted by one man- FOX-HOUND's commander-in-chief Big Boss. Big Boss laughed at the astounded Snake and told him the truth behind his mission, and the startling fact that he was infact Outer Heaven's mastermind. He mentioned that while serving as commander-in-chief of FOX-HOUND , Big Boss also ran a mercenary dispatch company utilizing his connections and capitals from his own years as a merc. He was planning on to build this company a larger military establishment, and he built Outer Heaven as its base. His purpose for sending the rookie Snake was to cause information confusion amongst the west. Also, Big Boss had figured that there was no way that a rookie like Solid Snake could fulfill such a mission, that his efforts would delay further action by the West and buy Big Boss enough time to complete Metal Gear's development.

However, Big Boss miscalculated. He never thought Solid Snake would make it this far... The two of them engaged in a final one-on-one combat. Even in his advanced age, Big Boss proved fast and dangerous. In a close battle, Big boss was defeated .
Faced with the failure of his plans, Big Boss activated the base's self-destruct countdown.While the countdown to destruction continued, his screamed echoed in the emptiness

"YOU HAVE GONE TO FAR. TOO FAR!!!"

The armed fortress nation Outer Heaven collapsed. The impenetrable fortress made from the best military technology and occupied by the toughest mercenaries burned in flames. Behind him, the flames reached skyward,
as Outer Heaven fell leaving Solid Snake all alone...

COMMENTS : As you guys can see, this story is so much advanced for a 1987 video game. It might be crude in some places, but an intelligent person will comprehend the amount of effort, it would have taken Kojima to come up with such a story,at that time. Its interesting to note that Kojima tied the future Metal gear's impecabbly with this one....in a grand way, that most of us know......

METAL GEAR SOLID 2- SOLID SNAKE ( 1990 Release )

By 1999, the Cold War had thawed, and it seemed that the threat of nuclear proliferation would soon be a thing of the past. Despite this, all was not well in the world. The world was facing an energy crisis. A series of shocks to the oil market ,caused petroleum prices to sky-rocket and It was obvious that petroleum would run out faster than what was expected. Oil reserves were at a critical low, and the world community was prepared to take drastic measures, either by drilling into sand and shale for more oil, despite the difficulty . The 21st century was expected to be one of chaos.

However, One mans invention changed the entire situation. Czech scientist, Dr. Kio Marv, successfully bio-engineered a new species of algae, OILIX, that could produce petroleum-grade hydrocarbons with little expense and effort. The world was filled with hope upon the discovery of this messiah to solve the energy crisis, but at the same time the world entered a time of tension regarding this new algae. It was apparent that the greedy eyes of many a nation will be on this invention.

Marv decided to present his invention to the World Energy Conference in Prague. He wanted to cast away all doubts of any single nation gaining control over it. He wanted it to be used for the common good of society, not to serve the economic interests of any nation. He was on his way to the demonstration in the United States , when he was abducted by someone and disappeared.

Nations began investigations immediately and a name soon appeared...'Zanzibar Land'... Zanzibar Land was a democratic military regime that suddently appeared in central Asia in 1997. When their uprising took place, the CIS Army, formed around Russia, sent in a suppressive unit immediately to thwart the immediate threat. However, the opposition which they faced, made the world understand the making's of a new poweful military regime, in the making. Zanzibar Land had gathered a band of Mercenaries from nations around the world and fortifying most of its land. As a result, the CIS Army was repeatedly defeated, and Zanzibar Land declared its independence. Due to the active role the mercenaries played, this war was called the 'Mercenaries war' and Zanzibar Land was referred to as an armed fortress nation. A military nation with a group of strong mercenaries, surrounded by a tough fortress. According to the latest information, Zanzibar supposedly was armed with Nuclear Weapons. The whole scenario was crystal clear. By obtaining OILIX in addition to nuclear weapons, Zanzibar Land was trying to establish its economic and military superiority over the entire world.

Concerned about the situation, the United States of America ordered Roy Campbell, Commander-in-Chief of high tech special forces unit FOX-HOUND, to rescue Dr. Marv. He brought back Solid Snake, the man who single handedly brought down the armed fortress nation of Outer Heaven 4 years ago, and asked Snake to bring back Dr. Marv and OILIX .
