New Screens of the PSP GO! leaks yesterday and in the new edition of qore. PSP Go will have a 3.8-inch display, 16GB of flash memory, Bluetooth (with support for headsets and wirelessly tethering cellphones) and a Memory Stick Micro card slot. There will also be full PSN network sand PS3 support just like the Current PSP.
It will not replace the current fullsize PSP but be sold along side it, and supposedly is set for a 10 year lifespan. No plans on the price and whether it iwll be cheaper than the 3000, but more info will be released at E3 with the announcement of some new games (metal gear little big planet and Gran Turismo, supposedly)
Great idea with the Internal flash drive with external memory, but they still have not addressed the horrible control scheme and probably wont address the software issue, so unless theres a touch screen built in somewhere this is fail, im not sold on this

Do they just say '10 year lifespan' with anything now? No way in hell is this thing going to last 10 years, especially since the PSP is into its 4th or 5th year now. To be honest, it looks cool, but I don't see it succeeding. People see that it's a PSP and expect to be able to play PSP games on it. Not unreasonable, IMO, but it's all digital, so... what? What do I do with all my UMDs? I'm still on my original fat PSP and I'll stick with it until it dies. After that, who knows. If they give me a way to digitalise my UMDs, I might consider it. I've heard mutterings of in-store kiosks, but I want to be able to convert at home when I want to. I also don't like the look of the control layout. It looks like my thumb would be stretched out pretty far trying to use that analog stick. And also, are the L and R buttons behind the sliding screen? That's just... awful.
I think it will be more or less what the GBA micro was to the GBA, to be honest.
It is a redesign, not a new PSP2 which is why there is no second analog.
P.S. This probably does belong in the E3 board. This was a leak, but will be officially announced on Tuesday.
Why? was leaked by sony themselves so technically its basically been announced already.
also, please dont stick up for this thing, PSP2,PSP1.5 or not, whats the point of redesigning thething if your not going to change the controll scheme which has been the bane of the systems existance besides the crappy software support? since most of the community is still sticking to the 1 and 2000 units, i dont see anything that would get them to switch to this, since it has exactly the same specs as the fullsize PSP besides a built in harddrive. This is a total waste of time and energy, unless of course this is just a technical beta of the PSP2, which i doubt.

This isn't necessarily to get existing PSP owners to switch over. This is just an option for new consumers.
Plus, they are not going to add in a 2nd analog stick, because it is a redesign, not a new handheld. Developers would have to develop a game that can be played with and without a 2nd analog, or completely alienate 50 million current PSP owners.
Use your fucking head. I am not "sticking up for it", I am using god damn common sense.

Completly alienate 50 million current psp owners?, complete bullshit. So why exactly do they have to make a brand new handheld to add two analog sticks, or even a good analog stick to begin with? theres nothing wrong with just updating the Handheld like everyone wanted years ago and just updating the firmware and lowering the price of the damn memory stick, or including a large one. They dont even really need a offical successor to the PSP since they can just update the firmware to death. I understand your using common sense, but it still doesnt change the fact that this is fail.

How hard is this concept to understand.
Add in another analog stick = developers using that 2nd analog stick = 50 million PSP owners CAN'T PLAY IT!
Jesus.
Regardless, a 2nd analog stick isn't even necessary. The only games that would benefit from it are shooters, and many of the shooters on the PSP cope perfectly fine with one analog stick. Not to mention the fact that if I were to play a shooter, it would most likely be on a console anyways. DS shooters suck even more, and that even has a touch screen.
Once they make the PSP2, which uses a completely different game format than the current PSP, is clearly the next true PSP handheld, and it doesn't have a 2nd analog...then you can complain.

Jesus.
Hmm, its not really that different frmo DSi enabled games that also work on Ds lites, just create a 1 stick and two stick configuration, you dont have to make a brand new handheld for that!
JESUS!
Reguardless of that arguement, there is no excuse or defending tht fact that the PSP analog stick sucks ass and they couldnt even seem to fix that at the very least like everyone had been asking about.

For this thing to be a smash success they should've made the screen bigger, added a second analog stick, supported SDHC cards and dropped all other PSP models and UMD with it.
3.5" is a great size screen for a phone. I would've loved to see this thing with a 4 or 5 inch high res screen. I know the mindset is to design it to be pocketable, but looking at tiny screens gets old after a while.
Adding a second analog stick would just open so many doors, and put the device in line with the controller standard. Not only would developers be able to use it in design, but SCEA would be able to sell PS1 and PS2 games like crazy for this thing.
I say go with SDHC cards because everyone in the world besides Sony uses them. Screw Sony and their God damned overpriced, proprietary memory sticks.
Dropping UMDs and the other PSPs would be the smartest choice. It'd help Sony lower their costs, and it'd drive sales of this new device. As it stands now there's no reason for exitsing PSP owners to buy this new PSP. Developers will take the easy route and develop the same game for both systems, so it's not like there'll be a lot of stuff that will be exclusive to the new PSP.
On the Fail scale of 1-10 I rate this thing a 6.
And stop fighting you two. I know you're like the Superman and Lex Luthor of console pissing matches, but lets try not to resort to name-calling and cursing at eachother within a handful of posts.

And im superman. but when did we call each other names?
But good post, i do agree with it all, this is a pretty poor buisness decision, even for newcomers this isnt really a good idea. Almost, but not really.

Just like Sony not to think things through. They would've made a bigger dent in the market if they made UMD writable.
How? At the time of UMD's release we had (and still have) writable DVDs and mini-DVDs, which are roughly the same capacity as UMDs, and I guarantee DVDs would have been a shitload cheaper, given their ridiculous abundance, compatibility and lack of a stupid caddy. Nobody would have given a shit about writable UMDs.
I just realized why it might cost as much as it does.
Think about it...retailers can't sell games for the system. It is all digital downloads. So what incentive would stores have to carry the product if they don't get that big of a return on hardware (which is how it has always been in the past)? I think they raised the price to get stores more profit so the stores actually supported the system.
Hell, stores might be able to buy the PSP Go from Sony for probably 40 dollars less than what we pay.
If consoles end up going the way of digital downloads, expect those to be priced higher than they should be as well.
