Emulator/ROM on PSP??
I've been reading everywhere methods of putting emulators and ROMS on your PSP memory stick and actually playing them on the PSP. Pretty exciting, right?

But; Sony took measures to stoping that through Network Updates and covering the contract loop holes. And the only way to actually play the ROMS is by downgrading your PSP firmware to the 1.50 setting by using an EBOOT or GTA UMD disk. That's the difficult part!

Now here's the question to all who've actually done this; is it actually worth the trouble?

When were these measures put into action? Just curious.

Not quite sure. But if I had to guess; I think somewhere in 2006. I think any update after 1.50 is when it started.

Supposedly, famous PSP hacker Dark Alex was the one who cracked the PSP open and started ROM and MUGEN transfers. But he stopped after Sony threatend legal action.

It is and it isnt. On the plus side you get to play umd games and ps1 titles off a memory stick, however, it is not for casual users becuse it takes alittle research and patience to get everything together. Then once you get past the learning curve, and get everything together, bam, theres another version to download, or another sony update, which is a negative. Also remember these custom firmwares are not 100% perfect (are getting there) but they get the job done.

Dark alex left the scene for like a couple weeks and came back as team M33. He still offers PSP docs and all vers of his customer firmwares on his website and blog. He/they(M33) even made a PSP wiki site. So read up and see if PSP modding is somthing you wanna do.

I used to be into that **** before i just stopped playing it. Maybe ill get a bigger memory stick and get into it again but eh, too busy playing "the world ends with you". F crisis core at the moment BTW.
