Yes, my friends father is a beta tester for microsoft. He got Halo 3 before everyone, a bunch of palm pilots or whatever they're called, Vista, and everything else before they came out. He said he hasn't gotten 180 yet because they are still in like the first stages of making it. They need something to battle the DS and PSP though. They are the only console company without a handheld now...

Here's what I found:

"The Xbox 180 (cute new nickname for the original Xbox that is sweeping the nation) didn’t have much of a presence."

It seems that "Xbox 180" is just a nickname for the original Xbox.

I wouldn't expect to see Microsoft go jumping in the handheld market just yet. I'm sure they've got plenty of R&D going into the topic, but they're still new to the console market.

Plus, they're taking a financial beating over all the 360 hardware failures.

I'd look for it in the next 5 years, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

My guess is that it will be entirely Downloadable Content, because the writing is on the wall as far as physical media goes.

I don't know about that. Physical media is much easier to sell imo. If you run out of space on your HDD or whatever the digital media is stored on then you have to erase games to make space. Then what? Then you'll have to shuffle games around to play games you've already paid for? Doesn't sound to appealing to me. If i can hold the game disc in my hand then even if i dont play it for months at a time i can still come back and revisit it without any hassles. Not to mention how are they going to do backwards compatibility on the consoles for example? Theres too many hurdles right now for digital distro, its only a matter of time before physical media makes a comeback.

But on the other hand, you have the dilemma that they're already knee-deep in; introducing a new media format.

Look at Sony with their PSPs. Sony developed the UMD for the PSP, and nobody wants that. It's something they've struggled with, and has hindered the success of the PSP.

I know what you mean about the whole topic of running out of space. I'm no expert, but I would imagine they'd do it the same as they do the Arcade games today.

Run out of space? Delete something you rarely play. Next time you want to play it, just download it again. They'll know you've already bought it.
