This is Single-Player Review, if you can please write a review on this thread for multiplayer, that would be greatly appreciated.


Well, I have completed the game as of this day and have decided to share what my thoughts on it are.


Gameplay

Lets start off with gameplay. Many handheld variations of successful franchises seldom feel they live up to their console counterparts. SOCOM FireTeam Bravo 2 is not one of these games. If you are a long time SOCOM fan, and appreciate the single player aspect, you should not be disappointed in FTB 2. It does not stray much from the first FTB, with similar solid core of gameplay and mission style. FTB 2 expands deeper into the SOCOM world we all know. Never do you feel the stray away from the feel of classic single player campaign missions on the Playstation 2. There are many secondary objectives to achieve as well, adding onto the crosstalk effects for Combined Assault. Sandman is a great leader for your interchangable teammates, who include "Lonestar", "Bronco", and "Wraith", each of whom have their own special abilities. Lonestar should be employed in long range battle missions, Wraith for close-quarter, stealth-based missions, and Bronco, for all around support and centered abilities.

If you play this game on Admiral right away as I had did, all I can advise is to bring a lot of medkits later in the game. The enemies are unforgiving, as some missions took me about 6 to 7 attempts before successful completion. Airstrikes are something of great power when you know when and where to use them. If enemy vehicles designated for demolition are clustered together, call in the airstrike. If you are sure there are a crap load of enemies ahead in hidden areas, call in another airstrike. Supply drops are also of great significance. The negative side of this I had found was the fact that you cannot get ammo or change weapons for your teammate as you can yourself. This is the only major flaw I noticed in the supply drop action.

One finishing note for gameplay: Save civilians as much as you can, and also TEAR GAS IS EVERYTHING.


Newer Additions

There are new weapons to be earned and bought in FTB, including WWII era M1 Garand, Thompson SMG, and 1918 BAR. Rescuing and capturing enemy soldiers increases what is called "Local Influence" (LI) points, which can raise your status with locals in Adjikistan, allowing you access to black market weapons such as the WWII weapons, and enemy weaponry as well such as the F90 and SR-22 assault rifle. There are also the additions of "Command Equity" credits, which are used to purchase airstrikes, artillery strikes, and supply drops. "CE" can also be used to purchase multiplayer character skins and assorted outfits for your customized character.


If you have played and beat SOCOM: FTB 1, dont expect too many more suprises other than the new storyline and small additions. Updated everything is always good though. With a solid storyline to go along with the Combined Assault plot, it is a perfect buy for any SOCOM fan who wants their fix of gaming crack until they get home. This is essentially SOCOM folks, on the move.


Graphics and Sound

Not much different than FTB 1 other than newer looking character skins and different weapons and environtments. In my opinion, it shows what the PSP is capable of in many of its aspects. The cutscenes are beautifully shown and look as good as the PS2's SOCOM:CA. Sound quality of the game is great also, adding to the feeling of a good firefight with great audio of automatic weapons.

You got it right on.

The online gameplay is great. To me, it feels a lot like earlier Socom games. The controls are a bit weird though because of the PSP's lack of buttons, but once you get the hang of it, it should feel like old Socom. There is cheating, but this should be expected with any online game. Though it's not as common as other Socom games. The target lock kinda takes away from the challenge, but I can understand why they added this because it's ****ing hard to aim without it. I just wish Sony would've found a way to put 2 analog sticks.

If you have a PSP and are a fan of the Socom Series, this game is a must.
