Oh, well thats the public beta, i was talking about the private beta, only the the first of i dont know how many people that signed up on the first day have it, the public beta is on the 16th, the one where everyone who signed up late and has crackdown, we get it on the 16th, others got a private invitation, and got a message at bungie.com with the code, they even showed pictures as proof.

Hey, someone with a brain cleared this up. Thanks.
As far as I knew they were one in the same, when I signed up originally I was under the impression it was for the public beta, and that's all.
When did the private beta start?

Actually Knuck is right, Bungie sent a certain amount of invites to forum veterans on their site so they can play it early.

They have videos of them playing the Halo 3 Beta with others, easiest way to prove it right there. Quite a few are playing it already, but, I am not that interested in Halo 3, so I wont be getting the beta, but will just eventually buy the full game. ( Crackdown is on my gamefly list, but it is like, 4th, so.......if they decide to send Crackdown, and it has the beta, then I would play it. But that is the only way :p)

That's different from just signing up on the forums. I looked into this at work today (nobody goes to Office Depot on Mother's Day) and found out that the friends/family portion started already.
