I'll be completely honest here, I find nothing wrong with the driving.
I can see a lot of people don't like it because it's a lot more realistic now. You can't floor a high-power car and expect to do a 90 degree turn perfectly, it's not going to happen.
Don't hold the gas down the whole way unless you're being chased. Sheesh.
go to your controller options and change the layout to "classic". the driving still blows hobos but it's a little easier with this layout.
Good Tip !
I don't have a problem with the driving either. However, I will pass this tip on to my friend who cries nonstop about the driving. I'm finding new stuff everytime I play this game that either shuts me up or makes me sing praises.
I switched to classic mode as soon as I started playing the game. I'm pretty good at driving, but I need the classic controls because I'm so used to them.
I think I've gotten the driving down pretty much. Ease off the gas and tap the brake on turns and use the E-brake for spinning around and such. I'm pretty much a beast at out-running the cops (right, BamF? lmao).

In previous GTA games, it was way to sensitive and the cars all pretty much handled the same. Some cars obviously had more power, but generally there was no difference with driving.
The driving in IV is much more realistic, you have to think about each corner before taking it. You can just see a corner and go, "**** I need to take that left!" and handbrake turn into it, you have to actually brake and avoid skidding out of control into a (very inconveniently placed) pole.
I did a mission earlier that left me in the airport, the only nearby vehicle was a bus so I took it. I got an instant 4 star wanted level and I was driving around for 18 minutes (checked stats afterwards) with very little health and eventually got away from the cops.
So far the best car seems to be either the Dukes (looks like a mustang) or the Blista Compact. The Dukes is low to the ground so the sides of it dig in and slow you down as you corner, and then it has a lot of power to get out of the corner. The Blista Compact can easily turn a tight corner at near full speed also.
Magnum Force will be holding a seminar online later today to teach people how to outrun the cops in any vehicle. I'll be there as well to teach how to properly drop grenades under cops, thus causing the chase.
When I first used them, it said to press R2 (on PS3 of course) to pull the pin, and press/hold R2 again to throw it. I try this, and pressing R2 once will throw it.
I have thrown a few of them out of a moving car and I think I may have blown up a car or two, but they are too expensive to waste.
Equip them, then pull L2 to pull up the reticle. Then pull & release R2 to throw it, or pull & hold R2 to cook it, then release R2 to throw. That's if the PS3 controls mirror the 360 controls, which I'm guessing they do.

Oh ok. I probably just read the tip wrong. Doesn't help the tip displayed during a huge shootout with bullets coming at me from all angles.
I randomly picked up a Molotov from somewhere and ended up throwing it the cops guarding the bridge earlier in the story, I got over half way across the bridge before getting killed by the helicopters.
