I finally unplugged my ethernet cord been fine ever since. Of course you shouldn't have to do that to be able to play it. And can't play multiplayer either which kinda blows.

Yea, mine has been pretty much fine since I stopped logging into PSN before playing the game.

That solution is pretty much the best one for the PS3 because you can log into PSN once the game has loaded.

So far people have been talking about a game freeze during the first cut scene. Rockstar has given no reason for this problem yet. Some say that if you disconnect your ethernet cord it should work just fine. But I believe this cause issues with the ingame cell phone.

I rented the game @ blockbuster seeing that they had alot.
As soon as I got home i put the game in the system, I let it save to the harddrive than sat and watched the first couple seconds of the 1st cut scene and it froze. I tryed it about 8x's.

Samething over and over.

Than I figured if I skipped the 1st cut scene than I could play, It worked.

But it freezes after I start to drive, sometimes it freezes b4 I even get to take off in the car.

I figured that If I erased all the memory to my ps3 than I could play. i had about 100 videos 2000 songs and 1500 pic's.

After restoring the ps3 I popped the game back in, but Got the same reaction.

Could it be that I bought the Ps3 when It 1st came out? The 1st gen model.

Shoud I try a air duster can and spray the damn system?
I use a lense cleaner on it.

can anyone help ?

thanks

I also forgot to mention that I tryed more than One copy of GTA IV for my system.

Other games seem to work just fine on my system, so I highly doubt thats the problem.

As stated above, try to disconnect you ethernet cord from you PS3. This seems to be helping most people.

The fix for the PS3 seems to be that you have to be logged out of the PSN in order to play it. Once the game has started up, you can log into the PSN.

I believe they are going to release a patch soon. I'm thinking there isn't much more you can do.

Does your other games play in color? It almost sounds like a TV issue.
