GTA4 delayed for PS3 and 360
Take 2 Games - Investor Relations General Information
"Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete the title. The title is now planned for release in the Company's second quarter of fiscal 2008. Additionally, Take-Two is updating third quarter and fiscal year 2007 guidance to reflect the movement of Manhunt 2 for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and the Wii™ out of the third quarter and the fiscal year."
The game is being delayed to Q2 2008. I am extremely glad for this, because the game looked like utter ****. More time to make it better. *Prays 360 version will be HDD required* (Just so it doesn't bring down the PS3 version)

Oh well... this just means I will have more time to complete some of the other games that I currently own.
I just hate waiting... especially for a GTA game.

This pisses me off more than, well, I can't really say because this is supposed to be a "family friendly" website, just know that I am highly pissed. But I guess we will get a better game due tot he delay, I hope. Guess we will just have to wait and see.

Not confirmed if true, but a good read
UK Rebellion.com: Xbox 360 problems delay GTA IV. Microsoft bans Playstation 3 release.
Quote:
GTA IV was due for release on 17th October. Rockstar have been using the Playstation 3 as the lead platform. An Xbox 360 team have been working besides the core team adapting code. Whilst the PS3 Blu-ray disc will easily accommodate the game, there have been problems fitting the game on to a single 360 DVD disc. Microsoft will not allow the game to be released on 2 disc as they are concerned the 360 will be compared unfavourably to the PS3. The situation has led to tension between Dan Houser and the Microsoft Empire as there is currently no way the game can fit on a single dvd.
Microsoft are currently working on a new compression technology for DVD9 discs, however this wont be available until next year. In a politically worded statement Sam Houser said "The game is huge and is pushing the hardware platforms to their absolute limits. The top engineers from Sony and Microsoft are working closely with the team in Edinburgh right now, helping us to fully leverage the power of both platforms."
Whilst the PlayStation 3 version is all set for completion at the end of this month, Microsoft have tied Take Two into an iron-clad legal agreement that forbids them from releasing the game on any format unless the Xbox 360 is ready. This has meant that whilst the PS3 version will be ready for October, Microsoft have directly prevented its release. That's what happens when the Houser brothers sell their arse for the Microsoft dollar. Stupid limey gimp-bags.

Lol. Tell MS to **** off and let them release it on two discs, then do a greatest hits that fits on one with that compression.
Can't believe there's already a cross platform game that proves the Blu-ray was a good idea...
Although this is a rumor...

I can't say I'm surprised, but I am dissapointed. I was about to pick my console and pre-order the game soemtime next week, but **** it and **** them.
It's also funny how the PS3 version was set to be finished so soon since I read last week that the PS3 version is around 2 weeks behind schedule.

I hope the Core 360 is phased out when the Halo 3 editon is launched, giving the 360 version of the GTA a definate HDD availabilty. Owenrs of the Core hold more stuff back than the Government.
