I wish they'd firmware some God damned backwards compatibility into my PS3. That's pretty awesome how they can put any blu-ray related upgrade through with a firmware update, but they can't tell that ****ing laser how to read a PS2 disk.

Because it really isn't the PS3 hardware that is capable of doing it (well, I am sure it can, but that = money). The 60 gig has to have the emotion engine...which was essentially a PS2 inside the PS3. The 80 gig is software emulation.
So I don't think that the PS3 hardware ALONE can have BC without anything else. Sure Sony could have had software BC in the 40 gig too, but the 40 gig is essentially the cheapo version.
They really shouldn't have discontinued the 60 gig.....at least the 80 gig will be back soon.

Seriously, why not keep a premium, totally backwards compatible model? 60 gig's still the best, and it's going to stay that way until they move to the 45nm process... unless they already have.
Yeah, PC games are awesome in the sense that they often offer free DLC, like the sweet virginia map that just came out for WiC today. Reistance map pack + socom II map packs=total waste of money
I've heard rumors that the next Grand Theft Auto game will be a PS3 exclusive. I certainly hope that's the case, so that they can build the game to suit the PS3's full potential, instead of watering it down so that the 360 can play too.

IM just going witht he xbox vers becuse ill be able to make use of the multiplayer features alot better, and id like to chat with some of my friends while playing,messeges,etc.
P.s no more XMB comments, its still not here, and wont be on the night of april 28th.

Not a big GTA fan...rather rent it first to see if I actually want to buy it.
I will get it if it is a unique game, and not too similar to the past ones. I saw some gameplay footage of it, and so far it is looking a lot like the earlier games but with a couple new animations. :\
well thats the beauty of it, it is alot similar to the past games, just better aiming, alot of expansion,and next gen free roam carnage. Honestly, id be happy with just a gtaIII engine title, as long as i get play it with all of this gens newer features(voice chat, multiplayer,HD, etc) The general fanbase is just itching for some type of nex gen gta action, but for a game like this you wouldnt have to change it much for it to be insanely bad ***(freeroam having alot to do with that)
