Please tell me where in that article it says that the PS3 version 'runs smoother'. The quote the unquestionably impartial Sony Defense Force have pulled out is thus:

For the first time, Rockstar gave us hands-on access to both the PS3 and 360 versions of GTA IV. The good news is that no matter which system you prefer, you're going to have a great-looking game to play. There are only some minor visual differences noticeable between the two preview versions. The 360 build is brighter and has slightly more vibrant color while the PS3 build has less aliasing issues. Both display a solid, consistent framerate even during scenes with heavy pedestrian traffic and wild explosions. While graphics whores will find subtle differences to nitpick, the average Joe is going to be happy with either version.
|
If you think stronger antialiasing (the only apparent plus for PS3) translates to 'runs smoother,' then you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
As an aside, you do know that 'Wii60', as you so proudly display in your sig is supposed to be a slur against the PS3 for stealing the 360's and Wii's best ideas? (EDIT: Wow, that was quick!)
EDIT: This is pure comedy. Sony Defense Force have translated the above (which any rational human being, IMO, would take to read "It doesn't really matter which version you get") into:

IGN confirms what we already know: the definitive version of GTA4 is the Playstation 3 version. In a recent article they mentioned that the Xbox 360 version was plagued with aliasing while the Playstation 3 version is razor sharp with no graphical impurities marring the image quality. Unfortunately for fans of the series, Grand Theft Auto 4 was developed on the Xbox 360 as the baseline engine, so the Playstation 3 version is severely gimped compared to what it could have been if the title was developed to tailor towards the Playstation 3’s superior hardware specifications exclusively.

I wondered why Sony Defence Force would write an impartial article. God, what a bunch of twats.

The Sony Defense Force is run by the same guys as Wii60.com.
So they are not PS3 fanboys. They pretend to be them to make the PS3 fanboys look worse.
Either way, everything they post up is about 98% false.

So, seeing as the game will already take around 100 hours to complete as is, you can have your extra missions. I'd rather have the version that performs better. Oh yeah, and I'll also take the version that I can play without having to worry about the console having hardware failure in the middle of the game. Be sure to wear your lucky socks while playing the game so that red ring doesn't show up.

How is it that you can turn every one of your posts into a "OMGLEIK, PS3 SOOO BETTER THAN THE XboX3SUXTY!??!!!!LOLZ!"?
I just don't understand it. Get a ****ing life, dude. Seriously.
If the PS3 version does run "smoother", so what? 360 owners get MORE GAME. I think I, along with the rest of the forum(excluding you, obviously), would prefer more game.

Except it doesn't. He's either made up the part about it running smoother, or has no idea what aliasing is. The framerates are the same, and solid on both systems, according to his own article. If I'm honest, aliasing is a niggle for me, but I'd rather have more game than stronger antialiasing, as I expect most would.

I am an Anti-DLC gamer.
Stop buying DLC! They just encourage developers to rip us off. Is anyone else sick of DLC? You should be! Most games now require about 90 bucks to get all the content that should have been on the disc.
So if I do get the 360 version, which I probably will, I still won't buy the DLC.
Stop encouraging developers, STOP BUYING DLC!

Are you nuts? Have you never bought an expansion pack in your life because you feel it should have been part of the main game? OK, for stuff like horse armour, I see your point and agree. But for excellent game expanding DLC like the recent Overlord content, I think you're mad, and haven't really thought things through.

I like large expansion packs. GTAIV is one of those. But I am no longer making any exceptions. No DLC, and that is that.
Also the fact that I won't be play GTAIV anymore, and will be on to other games by the time the first episode comes out. >_> So it isn't like it matters.

Well, I think you're being quite narrow minded and denying yourself some good opportunities with that attitude. Like I said, the recent Overlord DLC was great, and got me to pick up and play through a good addition to a game that I really enjoyed but hadn't played in about 6 months.
Of course GTA will be old hat by the time the DLC comes out, but I'm expecting it to breathe life back into a game I won't have played in months, like with Overlord. It's OK to say 'I won't buy horse armour' but to swear off all DLC because of some weird notion that everything should be included on release day is really blind of you. Why not just not buy the DLC you don't want? You're not going to change anything with this little one-man crusade. The DLC market is huge.

I do believe the DLC will be available the day the game comes out. Or did they change it?
