saints row MIGHT have been the one game to pull it off, BUT, i think my (and everyone elses) judgement was clouded by the fact that from the loading screen on it was automatically compared to san andreas in almost every aspect.

i don't know, we'll all have to wait and see in october, but i for one plan on seeing first hand for myself as soon as humanly possible. as a matter of fact i'm going to go check a few websites now and see if it's possible to pre-order yet.
I agree with that completely, I have yet to find a game that has an awesome single player and multiplayer. The only game that in my mind has come close to being excellent on both is MGS3:Substinance. The single player was great and the multiplayer after getting used to it was also a lot of fun.

You know, I haven't been too excited for this game, and I couldn't figure out why until you made this statement.

GTA is kinda like an old hat now. Since the 3rd one, every game's been about the same, with a few new things thrown in. Personally, I didn't care for the whole working out and eating thing in SA. I can't even eat right in real life, so how am I going to in a game?

For me to really get interested in another GTA, it'd have to be pretty innovative.

I think it'd be awesome if they found an enjoyable way to make online free-roam, but I think that'd be super complicated to do. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

(Trying to keep the thread going for a while)

I think they went a little over the top when they added the need for food on the game. They are starting to add stuff in there that just make you want to cheat just to get passed the annoying parts of the game.

Such as eating, stamina, and muscle building.

The muscle thing wasn't too bad, but it started to reverse after a while, so you were forced to either have a weak guy who struggles to jump walls, cheat, or spend time in the gym.

If they added a free roam online world, I would never even play single player. I always wanted to start a biker gang or something on San Andreas.

It would be like Saints Row (for those who have played), but with more stuff to do and obviously the open world.

As soon as I know if I am going to be in the US in November, I will preorder this game!

I think the "eating system" that Rockstar added into San Andreas was a great, innovative idea. It adds more realism into their franchise, which was seriously lacking in that regard with all of their previous GTA games.

(Picking up health packs is so 1980s, anyway!)

The "bodybuilding" aspect that they added was another welcome addition... it made it nearly impossible for people's characters to look exactly the same. In my opinion, it added a (yet another) neat twist to customizing your character to your liking... yet another thing that was seriously lacking in previous GTA games.

I'll probably never have really bad things to say about any future GTA games... unless of course, they make them like any of their other pre-San Andreas versions.

Basically my thoughts as well.

I'll probably end up buying the game, simply because it's GTA on a next-gen console. I've never been the biggest GTA fan, it's always been the same to me, I'm hoping that some sort of online play will make this one something I can enjoy for more than 35 minutes :\

I have never played a GTA game on an X-Box so I am looking forward to seeing what the controls are like. People say they are a little difficult, but the 360's buttons are more or less the same as the PS2's now.

I usually enjoy a GTA game the most in the first week I get it. Its the only game that I watch the pre-game credits on. I actually get excited too when I watch them, I need a life!

GTA games only get boring to me when I have to do racing missions, boat missions, or air missions (plane, helicopter whatever). They all take too much effort. I hate racing games on all games that aren't actually racing games.

Anyone got any suggestions for potential new weapons they might add?

I hope they add a nice revolver, possibly a TASER (for comedic value), and maybe a couple more "melee" weapons.

I'll get it just because it's GTA. I'll be basing my opinions off of the game based on San Andreas. Saints Row is a pretty decent game, but the storyline is seriously weak. That's where the GTA games have got me hooked. I love the stories for those games. Grand Theft Auto III's was the best, and Vice City is right behind it. I didn't care much for the San Andreas story, the ending was completely ******.

^Agreed. I liked the additions because it made it longer and more interesting. I hate games that you can breeze through in a couple days. With the GTA games I would just mess around on vigilante missions and have with the characters. It's one of the few games that I never really wanted to end in sp. I liked how they gave you different fighting styles to choose from. One thing I hope they do is give you more options for customizing cars. That's one of the things that disappointed me about SA. Just talking about it makes me want to play Vice City or SA again from the beginning.

And boobs. This game needs to have boobs in order to transcend the generation breach between consoles.

Simply put, we need plenty of these in the next iteration:

When I played SA on my original Xbox, it only took me a small amount of time to "re-learn" the controls, seeing as how I originally conquered the single player mode of SA on the PS2 when it first came out.

But I agree with you... seeing as how the 360 controller is almost like the PS2 controller, it shouldn't be an issue at all this time around.
