Grand Theft Auto: Liberty Stories (PS2)
Has anyone played this game yet? I'm about to buy it soon because it's really cheap. I saw some reviews and some people said it's not really good because of the graphics (of PSP).

<snore> I played this game months ago on PSP, so I highly doubt I will be playing it once again on PS2.

And if you play games for "just the graphics"... you shouldn't be playing them at all.

This game is very poor. It's a little better than GTA 3 except for the very dirty looking graphics. The everything looks so dirty that it actually makes the game worse. It's besically identical to previous GTA games except that it has about the same number of features as GTA 3 whereas Vice City and San Andreas had far more. I'm sure that it's great for PSP since a handheld would require a simpler game, but it's a terrible thing to put the game on PS2 without improvements on the previous games.

It was my first PSP game and it was really fun but I'm not very happy with it. The other GTA's were so fun that they made me stick until the end, this is just another reason to go around and kill people in a video game. I lost interest in like the 10-15th mission. Crappy story, crappy missions, don't like it.

Well, this wasn't my first PSP game... but I think that it's one of the best games available on the PSP.

"Crappy story & crappy missions" wouldn't be my choice of words for this game, as I think the only reason it's not as engaging as the GTA "big brother" console versions is because of the lack of storage space on the PSP's UMD discs.

For portable GTA fun... Liberty City Stories is where it's at.

You know what, I love this game. I don't have a PSP, so I'm playing it as we speak. Who cares about the graphics.

Why would lack of storage space matter? I have a 512 memory stick and I still don't like the game... lol.. Don't really know what you mean. But I don't understand how you think it is a good story and good missions. The same misssions as every other GTA, go here and do this, with a few exceptions for cool missions. I dunno, I don't like it.

Let's see... I was referring to the limited space on a UMD disc. Meaning, developers have limited space on a UMD disc to place the "world of Liberty City" on.

Think about it... for San Andreas, the developers had to use a dual layered DVD to fit all of the information on. Whereas UMD media carries about half of the storage space (maybe even less than that) than a normal DVD comes with.

That's all I am trying to say... basically, you're not going to get much innovation on a UMD disc which has significantly less storage space when compared to a "normal" DVD disc.

To me, this explains why Liberty City Stories suffers just a bit on the PSP... they had no other choice but to keep it "simple".

Making it a straight PSP to PS2 port is their problem, not mine... I'm just glad I've already played it on PSP.

Amen to this statement... I've said this a million times on these very same forums.

As long as it plays good (controls), has a good story and can keep me entertained for a couple hours a day. I'm a happy camper and could care less about the graphics. I've played games with high end graphics and it bore the pants off of me. Rockstar isn't selling graphics, there selling a story and a good one at that. It's like a book, does it have to be a literary work of art to be entertaining? No it doesn't, it just has to pull the readers in and hook them with a story.

Thanks and have a good day.

I see what you're saying and it's a good point, but that doesn't take away from the fact that most of the missions flat out suck... It's another reason to get pissed at a video game and give up because it's your 50th try. I dunno, I'm only 15% into the game and it could definitely be better so far.
