I had a big problem with my XBOX 360 (RROD) and I couldn't turn it in to MS because it was "opened". Since I couldn't turn it in I opened it fixed it up and it work for 2 months then it stopped working. I tried opening it and doing other because but I just can't get it to work. I'm tired of trying to fix it so I am thinking of buying a new console. I know that the new XBOX 360 consoles are supposedly fixed, correct? And they come with a warranty, on top of that a 3 year warranty if you get the RROD, right? Do you have to pay for any of those warranties and if so how much?
Right now I am deciding if I should get the XBOX360 or the PLAYSTATION 3. Which one should I get? I already had both in the past but I didn't play the PS3 that much.
I would go after a PS3. There's some kick*** games coming out in the near future like Metal Gear, Grand Turismo, Socom, and other exclusives.
The decision is yours and yours alone. The 360 has great games too but the reliability of the system is awful. It does have the 3 year warranty now, which isn't a real bad deal.
Yeah, I am thinking of getting the XBOX 360 because thats what most of my friends have and I want to play with them. Plus, with the free red ring of death three year warranty + the one year that covers anything else shouldn't be bad.
The 3 year warranty ONLY protects against the RROD. Otherwise, for something like it not reading discs, you only have 1 year.

My brothers 360 RROD'd one time, then never again, then the cd tray stopped working. I called and said RROD, shipped it in, and they gave me a new box.
Second time it was for my younger cousin whos lens wasnt reading the discs. "RROD!" "no problem sir" shipped a box in, got a different box back.
And two of my friends had some type of similar debilitating issue to thier box that i told them to say RROD and not mention anything else, since they had nothing to loose by sending in a broken box. And that **** actually worked. I was surprised myself.
