Power Cord
I just sent my 360 away to get fixed. On the instructions that came with my FedEX box, there was a picture of my power brick and the cord for it that plugs into the outlet on your wall. The picture showed a 3 prong power cord, but the one I use for my XBOX 360 is a regular two prong. I didn't think anything of it until after I sent the 360 in the mail.

I have reason to believe that I mixed up which power cord went with which thing when I had to move things around in my room a few months ago. My computer has a bunch of power cords that are three prong style, and I think I had extras that may have been mixed in after everything was all un-hooked. This may have caused my eventual over heating and breakdown... at least I have a hunch that it could of, since I am running the power cord into a six way power bar that has almost every spot taken up.

Anyway, I wanted to know what everyone else had here. My XBOX was manufactured in 2006, if that helps at all. So I want to know, did your XBOX 360 come with a normal two prong, or a three prong style for the power cord?

Any electric device can only draw a certain amout of amps and volts. I does not matter if it has 2, 3, or 25 prongs. There can however be a surge of power to a device. That is what surge protectors are for. I don't suspect that was the cause.

Alright that is informative, but that doesn't answer my actual question.

Did your XBOX 360 come with a two prong plug, or a three prong?

If I mixed it up, Microsoft might send my console back.

I don't know what came with the original one I bought, but the extra brick I bought for my living room has a three prong one.

I got my 360 back, and it had a new power brick. It still had two prongs though. It's wierd that they would switch it up like that.

Hmm... I wonder if it's a new style then. All of my friends and I have bricks with three prongs. Also, all of ours are first through third generation consoles (this is now a confirmed 10 of my buddy list members, as well as, an impromptu workplace verbal survey of about 8 people). Maybe, they changed the brick itself. Fascinating...

Same here... I have yet to see a 360 power cord that doesn't have the third prong attached.

It would make me extremely nervous to play any console without that third prong.
