Questions on setting up my PS2 online
So here's my situation...

My PS2, television, and laptop (that gets the wireless internet) are all up stairs in my room...

The family's computer, modem, and Linksys router are all down in the basement...

I have the new slim PS2.

How can I setup my PS2 so that I can play online?

So basically what your saying is your wireless router signal downstairs isnt strong enough to get to your PS2 upstairs ?

I have a linksys as well. All you need is a wireless signal booster. (also made by linksys) Lemme tell you....When I got mine, it increased the signal ALOT.

When I was testing it outside, I had a good signal almost a 100 yards out. Without the signal booster, it was crap.

But beware...your neighbors might be able to hop on as well.

There are plenty out there -

linksys wireless signal booster - Google Search

I think it's strong enough to get upstairs, because my laptop, which is also upstairs gets an excellent connection

The thing I have in my basement looks just like all of the ones that cme up on that Google search link you posted....... I thought I had to have a cable going from my PS2 to the router - but that would be impossible for me to do because the router is downstairs and Ps2 is upstairs.. I'm really confused, do i need a cable from the PS2 to the router or not?

Ahh, you need a wireless game adapter for your PS2 that will receive the signal. .

Amazon.com: wireless game adapter

It plugs into the Ethernet port on the back of your PS2. You can get a decent one for $40

First find out if you have a Wireless B or Wireless G signal first. I think some adapters can use both. That list above is pretty decent though. I wouldnt go to the linksys product site because they only list their newest (and most expensive) ones.

Or could simply connect your ps2 to laptop. I always do it with my PS2 and it gets the job done.
