The 360s ****** hardware has made me paranoid. I turn off and unplug every one of my consoles when it is not being used.
not to mention the insane amounts of energy they use, even while powered off. man i never realy reviewed how much energy my hd tv, ps3,ac, pc and xbox created together per year. Makes me wanna turn my **** off every chance i get. but i always forget...

the wiis cool tho, it doesnt take any energy, wich is expectable lol.

Folding at home is the most processor intensive thing you can run on your PS3, and I leave my PS3 on for days running it. Doesn't even get hot, in fact the TV is hotter (dad has one of those laser thermometers). I don't know how they did it, but that PS3 is a cooling beast.

Basically, Folding @ Home does calculations relating to the folding of proteins, each work unit is only actually processing a few milliseconds of the folding, but it usually takes like 8 hours to do so. You can see why they need every bit of processing power they can get. The research has a wide array of benifits, it's just a general purpose project in which we can apply the knowledge we learn to just about anything, whether it be curing cancer, fighting AIDS, or just any wide variety of minor medical issues.

I started a week or so ago when I am asleep or not home.

I currently only have about 50 work units completed, though.

I'm on the Playstation Forums team and we're ranked 37 overall.

The leader of the team has almost 2,000 work units completed. It's insane.

My team leader has 43,043 WU.
