The new update is out, I just tried logging on and was prompted to download.

It's just an update for Blu-Ray really, nothing spectacular. Here is the official list of additions:

• Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 (BD-LIVE) is now supported.
• The way you register (pair) Bluetooth® devices has changed, and you can now register more devices.
• A [BD Internet Connection] setting has been added under [BD/DVD Settings].
• An [Audio Output Device] setting has been added under [Remote Play Settings].
• You can now display an image while editing a playlist.
• You can now play a music track while editing a playlist.
• You can now play DivX and WMV files that are 2 GB or larger.
• You can now display subtitles when playing DivX files.
• You can now resume playing a DVD from the point where you previously stopped it.
• A [Mosquito Noise Reduction] option has been added under [AV Settings] in the control panel for standard DVDs.
• You can now play BD-R version 1.2 (LTH* BD-R) discs.
  *LTH, or low to high, is a recording method that supports organic dye, write-once BD-R media.
• You can now change some PS3™ system settings during remote play.
• [Save Target] has been added as an option under [File] in the browse mode menu of the Internet browser. This option lets you save a file that is linked from a Web page, such as an image or video file, or other type of file, to your PS3™ system's hard disk drive or storage media.
• The Internet browser now displays some Web pages faster.
• Using the Internet browser, you can now play a linked video file* as it is being downloaded.
  *Some types of video files cannot be viewed in this manner and must be downloaded completely before playback.

Again it's nothing huge, but it's something.

PS: Taken me 15 minutes to download 2% of the update. I'm going to try it via PC.

2% in 15 minutes? Holy ****. I just started mine and Im at 18%.

In the time it took me to log in, type that message out and post it, my dl popped up to 44%.

I try to avoid downloading things when they are first released because I know there are many more people doing the same which slows the time down. Usually system updates download and install in a couple of minutes, but 2% in 15 minutes is ridiculous.

Yah, I was having no issues updated.

I started it, went and took a dump and it was done.

Also, another new thing about it, is that when starting up a game, the Playstation 3 logo pops up before going into the game...is this the start of something??? lol

Cylon, it might be something wrong with his internet, or something else. Because Writer and myself had ours go pretty fast.

If I were you Id just dl it now. Mine is downloaded and installed.

Mine took 3min to get to 50%. Must be all the people downloading it soon after its release.

I guess this means no universal in-game XMB until after summer according to Sony.

(And anyways, I will be playing MGS4 all summer. No need for in-game xmb. :p)

Mine still hasn't downloaded, it was started before I made the thread. The PC version was downloading at 19kb/s (yes KB) so I gave up after 5 minutes.

I hope everyone finally realises how bad my ISP is, we pay for 8mb/s and get less than 1mb/s and because we are in an 18 month contract, we can't do anything about it.

And Zero what do you mean about the PS3 logo popping up before a game? When I start any game I get PlayStation 3 across the screen, do you mean something different?

Yeah, I got it at about 1030 central last night. Took oh say, a minute to dload the whole thing and a few to install it? Sucks to beyou BE.

I noticed this because when starting up a game, my TV says "no signal" for a few seconds because it is changing resolution. Before, I clicked a game, the game starts, the Playstation 3 words come up. Now I click a game, and the Playstation 3 logo comes up when the xmb is transitioning to a black screen, then the game starts.
