The guy at gamestop said the ps3 was defective from the start, and on behalf of gamestop they will upgrade my system. I took it in, picked up a 40gig with a free blu-ray of my choice. Apparently refurbished 20gb ps3s from gamestop were marked as defective since shipped out.
I was about to say, was it refurbished? 'Cause I've heard some sketchy things from a couple friends that bought refurbished systems from Gamestop.
Sorry to kind of go off topic, but does it really matter if your PS3 is vertical or horizontal? I always keep mine standing up vertically, I don't know if it matters or not... I doubt it does though.
I like how mine lays on my shelf horizontally, just looks so, amazing.

if they dont fix it, report them to consumer reports or wahtever it is.. its some govt thing. my dad once called them about a computer that broke after a month and they got the company to get us a nicer, upgraded one so it wouldnt happen again.
