Transferring offline achievements

So when I first opened up my 360, I created an account called 'Dave', for that is my name. So I'm happily going along playing under this account, because I didn't really care about online stuff. A few months later I wanted to download the latest update from Live, so I had to create a new account for live, which I did.

Only problem is, the online account has 0 achievement points, and the offline one has around 8500. Is there any way of transferring the achievements from one account to another? Or am I stuck with my 0 points online?

You would change the "Dave" account to a Gold membership, at which point you'd most likely need to change the gamertag (which would probably be free at that stage).

Maybe I'm not understanding you. I took it that while you didn't have Xbox live, you were playing single player on an account on your Xbox. Now that you've made a proper Live account, you want the achievements and gamerscore you accumulated while playing on the offline name. Is that right?

If that's the case, the only solution I can suggest is to cancel the account you're currently playing online with, and then change the account you've been playing offline with to be an online account.

Granted, I don't have experience with this scenario. I do know from a similar experience that they will not transfer achievements & gamerpoints from Account A to Account B.

That's pretty much it. The online account is a silver one though - I haven't paid for it. And since 'Dave' is almost certainly not available as an online name I thought I wouldn't be able to take it online. But if I can associate a different gamertag with it, that should do the trick.

You can change your gamertag, so I'm sure you can get that one online.
