Anywho, my tv has an option to zoom. Lets say that there are black bars on the sides, all I gotta do is press the format button(it makes it zoom, go to 4:3, auto adjusts, and fullscreen), then BAM, no more bars. But, it doesnt fix bars that are top/bottom
This thread is old so you've probably already figured this out, but it's not your TV or the blu ray, it;s the movie. Hollywood's attempt to lure people away from their television sets and back into theaters in the 1950's led to the wide *** ratio of 2.35:1. Today, most films are shot and shown in a ratio of 1.85:1 (widescreen plasma/lcd/etc.), but there are still a crap load in 2.35:1.

Exactly, I was so pissed when blackhawk down and like a thousand other movies still had the top and bottom cut off, but i knew it wasn't the ps3 because the ballad of ricky boby (which came with my ps3) didn't have this effect.
So in other words, once we all finally got a tv capable of displaying widescreen, holywood goes and makes another, even "thinner" format.
