Worth it?
With all of these RROD cases happening by the day, is it really worth it to purchase a 360? I'm thinking Core to save on cash. I'm still on the fence with Ps3 and the 360.

Yes it's worth it, because most of the RROD problems that are happening now are on older 360s. The new 360s rarely get the RROD. I've had mine for 11 months(exactly 11, I got mine Jan 26th), no RROD yet.

Yeah, the RROD is a flaw of the old 360s, meaning ones produced the first year or two. Any brand new ones on shelves now should not have this problem.
If you're a moderate to heavy gamer, I'd definitely recommend the 360 model with the 20GB HDD. I think they're calling it the Premium right now. The 20GB HDD gets used a lot when you subscribe to Xbox Live and play all of the free game demos that you can download.
Nice name, btw. Is that a Hunt For Red October reference?

Don't go for the core, it costs more in the long run, all it is is a 360 and wired controller.
With the premium you get a 360, wireless controller, headset, 20gb hdd and more, its a much better deal.

I agree with you wholeheartedly... I'd sooner get the premium model, if I had to choose all over again. I eventually upgraded my HDD to one of the 120gb versions once they were being sold... now I have no worries about having space on my HDD.

So, I did a bit of research. I know a lot of this should be common knowledge on this forum by now, but here are my findings:
- Despite the $100 slashing, PS3's low-end model is still a bit more expensive than the 360 Premium
- Because of technology like the Cell Processor, developers are reluctant to sign-on to PS3 projects due to enormous costs.
- XBL is more streamlined and isn't as clunky and fudged-up as PS3 online, despite Gold costs.
- Most of the intense graphic capabilities of the system require an HD-TV to be effective, thus, costing more money.
- Because of the above reasons, PS3 games will cost around $60-$70..more money shelled-out.
- Halo 3

- GTA4 is also going to be on 360
I'm sure there's other stuff I forgot, but yeah. Basically the bottom line is price and bang for your buck, from what I'm reading about, and now that the RROD should be under control by now, I think I'm ready to hop over to the X.

*Yes the PS3 is still more expensive, but contains more features that would cost extra on the 360. Would be a downside if you are at all interested in those features.
*Development costs are not any more expensive than the 360. Devs just want more consoles sold to make up for the dev costs. PS3 being released a year later than the 360 would have these issues for a little while until the sales undoubtedly get higher.
*Not clunky? The whole Xbox 360 dashboard system is clunky as hell (and ugly). A little less clunky since the recent update though. Online is set up nicely though, but PS3 online is not Fudged-up. You are paying for Gold for P2P gameplay (rip off), when Silver users get access to everything else. Also, Live has been **** for the past 4-5 days. PS3 online is sleek and smooth, hardly any lag in my experience.
*Obviously you need an HD-TV for HD resolution and graphics. Same goes for the 360 and PS3. Common sense.
*You do know the PS3 has been released already right? Games cost 60 bucks, same with the 360. This isn't 2005 when we speculate what things will cost.
*Crap game in my opinion

Rumble controller? Nope
Maybe I'd like to play a game while downloading a demo or update? Nope
Play some music from my MP3 player while playing? Nope
I don't need Blu-Ray or 1080p the TV in my room is a mid-90s CRT
Plus, why have a buddy list for each game and a master list that needs you to be out of a game to use?
Sony apparently has finally decided to halve its dev-kit cost to win-over third-party support

Umm...how would I do that in the first place when I was doing just fine getting responses from 360 users. If I wanted to troll I would have done on the PS3 sub forums.
I refute your points and you accusing me of trolling? I like the welcome wagon here
