Firmware 2.0 Soon
According to IGN (citing PS Blog) there will be a new firmware update for the PS3 in just a few days. (2.0 to be exact)

Highlights are being able to use your PSP to turn the PS3 on/off, an in-game ticker option which tells you of newly available downloads while you are playing, and the ability to customize your theme.

There are other features such as custom playlists for music and photos, but there isn't really much detail about anything.

IGN also denounces that this update will involve PS Home.

They better let you access the XMB in game. That's all I care about, along with an updated browser (Not that I use it much).

The custom themes sounds petty interesting. Hopefully it won't be too limited.

From the lists I've seen, I haven't seen any mention of in-game XMB. Although, accessing media from your PS3 with your PSP would be pretty sweet. Wouldn't really need memory cards any more....and could watch a huge variety of movies from your PS3 on the go go.

No in game XMB in this update.

They better add it into an update soon, because I am sure a lot of people have been waiting a long time for this one feature.

i don't really care about the in-game XMB. it doesn't really seem that important, only if you want to access your friend list. but all the games i've played offer that when you're online.
