HDMI for all?

(Sorry if this has been discussed, I don't read 360 sections really anymore)

*These are rumours only, no official MS statement has been found*

Numerous sources are indcicating that Core & Premium 360 consoles will be getting HDMI ports in late August - September.

That last link contains an "official" Microsoft statement but I didn't find the actual source of that statement anywhere. Its either a one on one with Microsoft they had, or just total crap.

Also note that some sources are saying it for Premium only, some are saying it's for Core aswell.

If all goes as planned and rumours are true, it will cause some selling problems for the Elite over here since its not out yet for another month. The only difference would be the color and the stuipdly humongous HDD.

The HDMI is said to be added with the new chips and a nice HDMI logo will be planted on the box of those colsoles with the port.

Again, there is no real confirmation except from what is said to be an official statement from MS on the last link.

For those of us who like large custom sountracks in our games, and saving lots of other kind of media on our Xbox 360 HDDs, we don't consider it to be "stupidly" humongous...

I wish I had more memory on mine I'm down to 10 gbs left already. I like having movies and music on there because if I ever go out I can take that with me easyer then a computer and i can play all my games. ( like vaction and stuff )

So what happens to us? What happens to those of us who bought an Xbox 360 that doesn't have an HDMI port? If I send in my 360 for repair, will I get one with an HDMI port sent back? You know, that really....I mean, why even buy a 360? If they're going to keep updating the console every time something comes along, then.....what's the point? The PS2 was out for some odd number of years, and the only thing I remember changing about it was it's size.

So, should I just sell my Xbox 360 and wait until they decide what they want to do with their console? Wait until they release an Xbox 360 with an HD-DVD player inside it, so that my games can have....half the capacity of a blu-ray disc?

When do the upgrades stop, and Microsoft actually makes a Next Gen console?

What happens is you stay with your 360 that you have now. Or just buy an Elite if you care so much about HDD capacity. Also wait for the Autumn dash update, might bring us some more news that means we should wait a few more months for [new feature].

There will be people buying the 360 the day before the HDMI ones are shelved, clueless about what they could have got if only they had waited an extra day.

They will most likely send you an old 360 refurb rather than a new one with HDMI if you send it in.

Its only the same with the Wii, rumour has it that they are sticking a DVD player in the next generation of the Wii. Means jack **** if you lready got one.

Well, the same can be said of Sony... they launched two different versions of their PS3 in November, and they've already discontinued the 20gb model. They then dropped the 60gb model price tag to $499, and release an 80gb model (with MotoStorm) for $599 weeks later... so basically, Microsoft is not the only guilty party, if you ask me.

I'm going to have to upgrade to a 120gb hard drive. With so many things to buy on the arcade I dont' have enough memory for all of it on a 120gb.

According to some people, that's a rediculous amount of free space... I have one installed on my 360, so it isn't me who thinks that.

If no one is discussing the HDMI, whats the point in the thread? For one person to say they need the HDD, then others to say they dont? Nothing to do with HDMI.

Lucky for me, TV's with HDMI ports are very cheap here and you get a very nice size for around 400GBP.
