I just purchased the hdmi cable for my ps3 and I connected it to my tv and it works perfectly only problem is that I used to have my surround sound connected with the red and white wires but that no longer is functional and it only plays though my tv.. Besides getting optical cable is there any way of connecting it to my surround sound?
Btw it looks reallly amazing on a 1080p tv I say if you own a ps3 its a must to own a 1080p tv not 1080i, huge difference.
What is the make of your surround sound system? If it has an HDMI input AND output then send the PS3 HDMI to the IN and get a separate HDMI to send from the OUT to the tv.

When you set up the display settings, it asks you if you want to set your audio settings too. Go to Setup > Audio Output (right under display settings). Change it from HDMI (Default if you have it for display settings) and change it to whatever you need.

I just upgrated my surround sound. I love panosonic sound systems.. This one has wireless rear speakers and an ipod dock. I love it. Oh and built in xm ready.
