PS3 game suggestions

im a wii owner but im also thinking about getting a ps3 or as most wii fans say going to the dark side but before i get it i need to know of any good games that are out any suggestions

Well, what do you like?

If you like shooters (FPS), give Resistance a go. It's a solid shooter that delivers lots of fun. If you like racers, download the GTHD demo and play that, or give Motorstorm a whirl (offroad racer). If you like fighters, try out Virtua Fighter 5 and download MK2 from the PS Store. If you like RPG's (this isn't a JRPG), rent Oblivion and see how that goes (it takes 5-10 hours to get used to everything, but it offers 150+ hours of gameplay).

Then there's some more coming out later (Rainbow Six in June [hopefully], Lair in July/August, and MGS4 hopefully this year).

I actualy work at best buy (Woo go me!). R6V SHOULD verywell be out by the end of may, or at latest first week of June. So its comin boys just hold on to your panties! :P

Oh yeah, socom confrontation is coming out this fall. It looks like its going to be great, but as always rent out a socom game before you commit money to it. Some have been legendary, some not so.

Its tentitave but due out in November '07 so still a ways away. But hopefully well worth the wait

I'm also considering buying a PS3 because of confrontation... but I'm very frugal about spending my money and 700-800 bucks on games and a system is tight on a low budget high school student...

I like the looks of R6V and Socom, mainly because they aren't first person... I cant stand FPS...

How about sports games? I'm a huge NHL fan and always pick up one of the games each year... I have NHL 07 for PS2 and was disappointed... I liked 2k6 better besides the graphics... anything on those type games? How about FIFA?

I rather split on this. I also have to fund a trip to italy in the spring and an SLR hopefully... but also hopefully I'll have a job in November...


Ive thought about 360 and like it but I cant leave the Socom franchise. Im a devout player and it is by far my favorite online shooter. Confrontation looks good, since theyre getting rid of all the BF2 vehicle and tank BS, bringing it back to socom basics which made S1 and 2 good.

Well, first off, Rainbow Six is an FPS. It just has a cover system (your guy presses against cover) that goes into third person while in effect.

Next, I would rather save the money for the trip your going on, and then start saving up afterwards. By the time you get enough cash, Socom should be out, along with a few more that will catch your attention.

Just be sure that if/when you do buy a PS3 you won't regret it down the line (no money for social stuff or other necessites).
