Sounds like a smarter way to go, if you ask me... I am going to try this out for myself.
That only works if you pay it off in time. Most people plan to pay it off early but don't, then get stuck with all the back interest charges.

Credit is bad cash is good.

Well, that would be my plan... it would be completely stupid to get nine months of interest free financing, and not pay it off within that timeframe.

I've learned my lesson with credit cards a long time ago... I don't disrespect the plastic.

Excuse my ignorant post about the Blu ray player, I realize how it benefits the Ps3 and such, but I still believe that there could have been a way around it in order to bring the cost of the console down.

A blu ray player is like 300-400 dollars by itself, isn't it? The PS3's technology is going to be good for years to come. I think it's a good buy, if you have the patience to wait for the amazing game lineup of '07 and '08. I'm getting on in a week or two.

Blu-ray players are anywhere from 600-1000 dollars, 600 being a pretty cheap one. Sony has a blu-ray player at 600 dollars, while samsung has one at 1000. The sony one that is currently at 600 is getting a price slash from sony down to 500, which leads everyone to believe that the PS3 will go down aswell. Cheaper blu-ray player, cheaper system with blu-ray player.

Also, Sony had 3 choices, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray, and well, Sony being a co-owner of Blu-ray, and DVD obviously not cutting it in some cases this generation, Blu-ray was the logical choice. They want to provide the consumer with the newest technology, for a very fair and reasonable price. I dont want to go all into it, but the 360 costs more if you were to buy the accessories that compare to the PS3. Such as the HD-DVD player, which right there puts you at 600. But Blu-ray is going to extremely benefit gaming in the future. More content, and well, even if they dont fill up a disc, there is a LOT of room to duplicate files basicly getting rid of loading times.

Yeah, I've always felt that you're getting your money's worth. People act like 360s are so much cheaper. I don't have anything against them, but I really prefer the PS line.

christ guys! Some of you are moaning at the price being at $480!

Here in the UK we have to pay £425 for the standard console pack. This is nearly double the amount you have to pay so think yourselves lucky.

Games retail at £40 and $40 - so you can get double what we get!

So those of you moaning about the price - You get it easy!

+ Sony took out features on the European model.

How will duplicating files reduce loading times?

And I have to admit, at first I thought the blu-ray player would propel the PS3 to be the best console the generation, allowing for huge, vast games with more content than previously possible. But now that I see developers designing one game for all the platforms unlike before, it angers me. They don't take advantage of the power of the PS3 (most of them, and even if they do it's usually just a novelty or poorly implemented), which really pisses me off and leaves the games lacking great features and they aren't as fun as they could be. That's why I'm so hyped for MGS4, and most other PS3 exclusives.

Also, it is always possible to release a game on multiple discs...

Duplicating files on a disc will cut search times on the disc itself (Where it searches the disc for the necessary files to continue the game), search time=loading times.

And yes, more people are developing multiplatform but worry most on the console with the currently largest fanbase, which is the 360, but don't seem to care about the Wii and PS3. But, now that each system has been out for awhile, we will start seeing more effort put forth by the developers to have a quality port on each system. Ubisoft learned their lesson and is delaying Vegas for PS3 to make it better.

But I always said, Exclusive PS3 games will truely show off the hardware. MGS4= butt secks. Lair, such a huge area, the water, secks. Uncharted has flawless animations, so realistic. The PS3 exclusive games defenitly stand out in the crowd.
