LCD and PS2 and Socom
Ok I used the searched but seem to have not found a clear answer. My dad bought a new LCD TV for the living room and I want to try it out on socom tonight but after looking around it seems that I need component cables for my PS2 to get the best picture quality. I was wondering if its absolutely neccessary to get these cable in order to see any improvement in the picture quality with Socom set to 480p and widescreen
OOPs Sorry I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum, can a mod please move this into the socom section, thank you

You can use S-video or Component cables to see improvement. IMO, The difference between the S-video and component cables is minimal when veiwing in 480p. You will definately notice great improvement if you upgrade from A/V cables to S-video. But thats just my opinion

S-video seems to work better for SOCOM. I say get S-video for now and component cables for when you upgrade to an HD console.

You can't go 480p with S-Video, 480p is HD and only possible through component cables. S-Video still looks great, don't get me wrong, but you have to have component in order to be in HD and use Progressive Scan.

Component costs about the same as S-video anyway, and works with the PS3 if you get it. Don't worry about the 480i vs 480p or 16:9 vs 4:3, the difference between RCA and Component is unbelievable. Also you can view widescreen with RCA, just not 480p.

Sorry for the bit of a late response but thank you everyone who responded, I borrowed some cables just to see the difference, now all I need is a longer ethernet cable. The difference is unbelievable, thanks for the input
