I would never admit to that.
I would take this approach....
It just pissed itself and died, I want a new machine !!

That's a more believable story

I'll tell you what... if I get dicked around with the repairs on my 360, I am going to try weaseling an Elite out of the (potential) debacle.

No matter if I have to pay an upcharge for it, in the immortal words of Clark Griswold, "I'm going to go for it, honey!"

Well, once again, I'm in the same boat as you. Mine just broke yesterday, for the fifth time, yes, I said fifth. Those three red lights sure are getting pretty though. I'm about ready to demand a new one, this is absurd, all my friends are at least on their third console as well. This is getting to be really unacceptable. Especially since I hardly ever use it anyway, this one had only a few hours on it, and now is subsequently dead. Oh well, they have me by the baby maker so I guess I gotta go call India, I mean 18004MYXBOX. Pretty soon Microsoft might be in a world of pain with all the lawsuits being filed against them. I think anyone, who's had a single problem up to now, should get a free brand new xbox. This is no longer an isolated/few people incident(like they make it out to be), this is a massive hardware epidemic and is completely unacceptable. I would love to see the actual failure rate, I know Microsoft is gotta be keepin statistics somewhere.

If these were automobiles there would've been a recall by now.

Sorry for your strife. Good luck. I know I will be absolutely irate if my breaks down again after being repaired.

I haven't said anything yet but my new XBoX makes noises like a Ford Festiva with a bad clutch. It's sad, because I'm not in the mood to send it out again at the moment. Sooner or Later it's going to die and it's suposedly a new machine. Which of course, it's a Frankenbox 360.I checked where McCallen, Texas is and it's a Border Factory. Meaning, That they have a entry door in Mexico as well as a USA Entry door.

Tix , you should have been reffered to by their ( Microsoft's ) Specialty Group after the 2nd Repair. Not they do anything better for you they just speak cleaner English.

I know damn well that they would probably rather shoot one of their employees than hand over a supposedly problem free Elite.

Exactly, I no longer got India after the second one (not that I'm being racist or anything), I just could barely understand what they were saying half the time. On top of having to repeat myself literally 6 times when reading off the serial number. Luckily this time I got the US branch. Thankfully too, they are covering it free of charge eventhough my xbox warranty expired 5 days ago. Although, I still think, for the amount of times I've sent mine back, the last time it went in should have started a whole new warranty period. Five consoles in a year should be reason enough, and in my eyes is pretty unacceptable for one customer to have to go through, and I'm sure there's people in my same boat, at the very least after the 3rd time they should be sending you one, and then you just send yours back. Thankfully also, once I receive my new one, I can then, once again, extend my warranty to another year (I guess there's a glimmer of hope there).

I had told my contact in the Specialty Group that I wanted an extended warranty because I had lost faith with Microsoft's Company and trust in their products. I told him that I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a warranty extension under these circumstances. He said he would put a request in and call me back the next day at the same time. I never received a call.
He stated that I would fall under a Special Circumstance if mine went into repair again and everything would be fine. Yeah Right.
I'm in a bad mood today anyway, I might give him a call today.

I just got off the phone with the automated Microsoft troubleshooter... I think I am going to try what they suggest by disconnecting the HDD to see if the "freezing" still happens.

Did you try all of this kinda stuff before sending yours in, Nun? When I had my problems Monday night, I did disconnect all of the AV and power cables from the system, and made sure that they were connected snugly. I can't believe that I forgot to try disconnecting the HDD from the console... perhaps that could be the problem... I dunno.

I just know that I have a 360 sitting in my office that is getting rather lonely.
