Just get the two year extended warranty directly through Microsoft... that's what I did. When I got my 360, there was a mail-in card for the 2 year extension... I filled that out right away, and sent it to them with my check for $50.

And if you ask me, it's the best $50 I have spent on the 360 so far... well, other than the $90 that I spent to get Guitar Hero 2.

When my retarded 360 broke, i called the place i bought it from (MircroCenter Electronics), and asked if their 2 year waranty would just give me a replacement console instead of me sending it in to get fixed or w/e. But they said that that particular waranty doesn't start until the factory waranty (1 year from Microsoft) runs out. IDK if thats how all of them are, but i liked this alot.

Almost everyone has sent theirs into repair atleast once already. Might went bad after 2 months of barely playing it. Gotta remember if your sending them into microsoft for repairs, they send back refurbished 360's.. you never get the one same one back that you sent in.

Still, Microsoft seems to be covering up and downplaying the issue in general.

I had to call yesterday to check my Status on my console. I called the Specialist for the 2nd time since Saturday and no-one returned my call. I got hold of the repair center and the person gave me a tracking number and said it was in transit as of yesterday. No UPS Call this time.
The funny thing is I was reffered to the Specialist Group when all they did was call me up to tell me that my console had arrived at their repair facility Good Job !!! I was tracking the Package anyway and never heard from them again.
Also another annoying thing is the console repair status that you can on your online account on their website. E-Writer clued me onto it and not once did it ever say anything about my console. No Repair Staus Pending every time. What's the point in having it on there.
If my console breaks again I'll surely have a Brain Aneuyrism.

Not true... mine has yet to experience any kind of problem. This is probably due to the fact that I have my 360 surrounded by a plastic bubble, keeping any kind of element away from it. The only thing that it "feels" is the cool air blowing on it from my USB-powered fan.

I found a fan from a school bus out in my barn, and I'm trying to find a cord to connect to it, but I haven't had any luck. It'd be perfect if I could find the cord.

That way, I could spend the least amount of money possible, but still have a nice fan back there.

I feel quite good about my system. I ha it since Christmas and it hasn't screwed up yet, cept for one time when the upper left quadrant was lit red, but I restarted it and it hasn't happened since.

I called tonight after nearly two weeks spent waiting for my prepaid shipping box, only to be told that "UPS has a backlog right now, and I should get it in the next week."

What I find hilarious is that on the Monday after my box went dead and I called support, I ordered a custom built laptop from Hewlett Packard.

Fed Ex delivered my laptop to me on Monday.

haha... it's like Jekly and Hyde on these forums. One thread you guys are saying how fun it is, and in the other, you hate its existence. This truly sucks. I helped my friend fix his 360 last month though without ever picking up the phone for customer service (because I hate them).

All it took was 2 trips to Wal-Mart and he's back in business.
