I can now say that after microsoft having my 360 for 1 full week, they can not update me on the status of my broken 360. I am not frustrated....yet, but how long does it take to investigate a console?
It's because all the Techs are standing around a table scratching their heads wondering what to do with my console.
I sincerely apologize for this inconveinance and certainly understand your frustration with this unfortunate situation. I'm fine. Thank you very much for asking.
Hearing all of this is really turning me off of getting a 360, which I have $300 saved for at the moment..........
It would help to buy the 360 at a store the offers a good warranty plan, I cant name any off the top of my head, but make sure you buy it at a store with something along the lines of a 2 year warranty plan where you can return it to the STORE in exchange for another 360, to avoid having to pay rediculous fines for Microsoft to NOT fix your console (And to avoide weeks on end without a 360).
360 is a great console, its fun, good games, good online, just, it is piss poor in the quality department.

To make your determination to not get a 360 off of our random complaints is ludacris. We are a few people in the world who have had their 360 break and are simply complaining because no one else cares or understands about our endless passion for video game playing. It would be similar to losing your arm, sending it in for repair and wondering why it is taking so long....all you want is your arm back!
Also, just know that NO new release goes without flaws. Everything that gets released will have a flaw or two that will get acknowledged by the public and the company will release a recall. Do you remember when the VW Bug would just start on fire due to an engine malfunction? How about when the PS2 HDD would start to heat up and melt? Nothing in the world is perfect upon first release, except me from my Mother's womb, so you have got to expect to here some minor complaints about everything. Just do some research before you purchase your "next-gen" console. Read about the PS3 vs. the 360. Ask owners of both systems what they think and then base your judgements off of that. To base you decision on this thread would be an awful regret!

Even though I had to send mine in 3 times for re-pair I would still suggest to anyone to get a 360. Just as JAKKMOVE said it's very important to get that extended warranty. Best Buy offers the Best Warranty Plans IMO, where as somewhere like Toys R US where I got my PS3 uses a 3rd Party Plan, which I'm not to happy about but I had no choice.
I regret not getting the warranty plan with Best Buy, but at the time when I got the console 2 Games ( MAdden & DeadRising ) and an Extra Controller,I was barely able to afford the Sales Tax afterwards. After the first year of warranty runs out Best Buy's plan takes effect and you can take it back with little to no hassle.
After dealing with Microsoft Customer Service I feel like I deserve an Olympic Gold Medal for all the Hurdles you have to jump.
What I don't understand is Microsoft knows that the ( Red Ring of Death ) is their most common problem. Still to this day I don't know what causes it and no-one has been able to explain it to me. Hardware Failure ( ok ?? ) I haven't even heard of Microsoft addressing at as an issue of concern. So when my Warranty runs out the Red Ring of Death repair is $114.00 + Shipping , I re-call seeing this price somewhere. Everytime I've gotten it, Twice Now, it's always when something is loading.

This thread is not making my decision final at all. I still am probably going to get one, but now I'm making it manditory to get the warranty from Best Buy. I'll never be completely turned off about it because of the great online play with games like GRAW2, Gears of War, Madden, etc.
I should be getting mine today, but it's used.
Somebody from my area is selling it for pretty cheap. It's said to work great, and is a Premium system, Wireless internet adapter, and GoW for 325$.
I was weary of buying it at first, but, it's such a good deal, I can't pass it up.
I'll just throw a fan behind it and hope it doesn't die like everybody else's.
This topic did get my thoughts running about this particular 360 failing as soon as I buy it, but, we'll see. So I'm prayin it don't die.
[EDIT}
Got it today, and it works beautifully. Played some Gears offline, and everything is working great, for the small price of 325$.
